7.5 is kicking my ass

Mounjaro.

5 was tough but I got past it, 7.5 - the nausea is unbearable, awful taste in my mouth, feel queasy when I eat, feel queasy when I don't eat, drinking flat coke which is helping but obviously not ideal.
Vomitting at least twice a day and burning my poor gullet in the process.

I only have 6 pounds left to lose but I can't do this anymore, been on it for 8 weeks now and it's not getting any better.

Help 😭

I’m sorry you are having such a rough time but I’m going to say the obvious - go back down.

saveforthat · 12/12/2024 13:58

Just stop. If you only have 6 pounds to go surely you can do that by diet? Why would you put your body through this?

Okayornot · 12/12/2024 13:59

I asked to go back to 5mg.

I did find that I felt crappy each time the dose stepped up but that by week 3 it was usually ok. With 7.5mg I just felt a bit too suppressed (to the point that I was developing low blood sugar, vomiting etc).

If you are only 6lbs away from where you want to be and you responded on lower doses it doesn't sound like there is no reason to stay on 7.5.

User364837 · 12/12/2024 13:59

Did you stop losing weight on 5? My approach is to stay on a dose until it’s no longer effective and that’s working well for me. I would personally also titrate gradually up from 5 to 7.5 by counting clicks.
vomiting every day is not healthy and not right, find a dose where the side effects are manageable

Weefreetiffany · 12/12/2024 14:06

Ive lost a stone since 1st September by going to the gym 3x a week 1.5 hours a session, and watching what I’m eating. I’ve upped my protein intake by adding collagen powder to my morning coffee and tried to prioritise an early night 1-2 times a week. My start weight was 81kgs and I’m now 74kgs with the goal being 65kg by July. I can feel muscles and stamina building and it feels great. That’s worth more than the number on the scale. Once I got over the hump of it being hard to exercise I actally feel worse when I don’t go.

why are you torturing and injecting yourself if its making you miserable? Go walk on a tredmill/ the equivalent of what your body can do, for 20 minutes and get some endorphines

SilenceInside · 12/12/2024 14:10

@Redwinesupernovafallingintome go back down to 5mg straightaway, you can use your 7.5mg pen to do a 5mg dose by counting clicks (45 clicks for a 5mg dose from a 7.5mg pen).

Redwinesupernovafallingintome · 12/12/2024 14:14

You are all correct, I should take a smaller dose and had been tapering up to 7.5, I just don't understand how I've got yo this point with amazing results (lost 4.5 stone) but I just cannot tolerate this dose at all, I get it from med express and they were being awkward about me going back down to 5mg.
Weefreetiffany I mean this kindly but please take your "just eat healthy and exercise" advice elsewhere, it has never worked for me as insulin resistant, mounjaro has literally saved my life, I haven't been to a gym once, thank goodness, I walk, I hike, I do plenty of exercise and eat plenty of protein thanks.

Anyone any tips for the nausea to get me through this this week??

Don't forget @Redwinesupernovafallingintome that the amount of tirzepatide in your system builds each week, so you have reached the point where the amount is too high for you to tolerate. Have you ever used the GLP-1 plotter site to show graphically how much active ingredient is in your system? It's only an estimate but it's useful to see the difference between continuing with 7.5 or stepping down to 5mg or somewhere in-between.

That’s disappointing to hear med express are funny about you going down a dose ☹️

I would do as suggested above and from your next dose take 5mg from your pen by counting clicks

Okayornot · 12/12/2024 14:22

Anyone any tips for the nausea to get me through this this week?? For me the nausea is linked to low blood sugar and the trick is to eat very little things. I went with a frozen grape every so often. Not something I would usually eat on a low carb diet but it worked. Alternatively a couple of bits kiwi. Just staved off the nausea. Also I found I had to be really careful when cleaning my teeth not to take too long or my gag reflex went nuts

That's very useful thank you! I have learned my lesson, I ve already ordered more 7.5 so I'll only do enough clicks for a 5mg dose next week, I might even go for 2.5, just can't stand how I'm feeling at the moment it's awful 😞

Yes have been trying to eat little and often, frozen grapes are a good idea, it feels like HG when I was pregnant, bringing back awful memories

Yes I definitely need to, but unfortunately it's in my system for at least another 5 days, so need to manage the symptoms 😭

@Redwinesupernovafallingintome If you're fine with having (more) meds, travel sickness tablets stop the nausea. You can ask for them over the counter from a pharmacy.

Some people tall about Cyclizine for nausea too but it has to be prescribed from a pharmacy or GP.

IrisPallida · 12/12/2024 16:07

You can ask MedExpress (as they are your pharmacy) for Cyclizine - they can and will prescribe it. However it may arrive a bit late for right now, but worth asking for an urgent delivery?

ThatCoralShark · 12/12/2024 18:09

Op is there a typo? You said you’ve been on it eight weeks and lost 4.5 stone? Do you mean you’ve been in 7.5 for eight weeks?

Oh lordy yes 8 weeks on 7.5!

OP posts:

And have you felt like this for all eight weeks , it’s hard to understand, or is it just this week?
