Crap losses on 5mg?

Chroomy · 11/12/2024 13:53

Stayed on 2.5mg till I felt it just wasn't working anymore, but was still having 2.5/ 3 lb a week losses but just little suppression and was told to move up by prescriber

So I moved up to 5mg 2 weeks ago and have lost just 1.5lbs in that fortnight and the suppression has not gone back up to what it originally was on 2.5mg

This is my last pen and am feeling a little gutted as I banked on at least 7lbs from the 5 weeks to hit target but at this rate I wont

I lose about a pound a week so that seems reasonable to me

But I was on 2.5mg for about 4 months and lost 2.5lbs a week at least, never less

It's easier to lose more when you weight more though, I would be delighted with your results

Tohaveandtohold · 11/12/2024 14:09

You weighed more so were losing more. It’s normal for weight loss to reduce as your body adjusts to your new weight and size. 1.5lb loss in 2 weeks is good

ThatCoralShark · 11/12/2024 14:09

It won’t be the dose op, simply a plateau

07whatever · 11/12/2024 14:20

I'm probably one of the only people (that I've read) that is really happy on 5mg. First week I lost 4lbs, second week 5lbs.
Lots of people are saying 5mg doesn't do much for them but then they go upto 7.5mg and it's much better.

I've had rubbish losses on 5mg. I'm maybe being a bit unrealistic but it's hard not to be disappointed when you hear of others losing significantly more. I had my first 7.5mg dose over the weekend and am not feeling much suppression at all.

I think I need to change my mindset and expecting miracles! I guess we're all different and will have different responses to various doses.

Tuuudu · 11/12/2024 15:02

At the end of the day - as the trade unionists use to say (always practical people) - I guess it must be a mixture of helpful suppression and “mindset” as @ChaosDream mentions; hopefully the mindset side of things grows, though I’m not sure how much that’s the case …

It very much depends on starting weight - but I am also happy with 1 - 2lbs weight loss per week. That’s me losing about 40lbs in a year (my target) which I feel would be totally amazing. Over that time I’m trying to do some weights and other exercises for health. Age 63 I need to do some of this for sure to keep mobile and a bit more supple.

Very much the same above. I have been on Glp1 since March 23, so coming up on two years. I lost 4 stone in 4 months and it's taken my a whole year to lose a stone. But I've no stretch marks. Or baggy skin. I anticipated three years to lose it and I'm roughly on track.

That’s quite unusual. Which drug are you on? Is it saxenda ?

I wouldn't be on it so long for such minimal losses but that's just me.

Also you say you lose about 1lb a week but then say it's taken you a year to lose a stone?

1lb a week would be 14 weeks to lose a stone, so just 3.5 months?

I’ve also just moved to 5mg after being on 2.5 for a month and losing 2lb a week. Since starting the 5mg last week my weight loss has almost ceased and my hunger has increased. Due to take second injection today so will see what happens.

I was hoping to stay on 5mg for a couple of months but if it continues like this I will go up to 7.5mg next month.

i guess you do lose more weight at the beginning of any diet and I really need to work on changing my mindset.

is there a reason OP why you have to finish at the end of this pen?

I was on Ryselbus first, and the MJ since August.

You can read my thread if you want you can easily search my name and find it. I was plateaued for about 6 months, and have been losing since I started MJ, which I just ready was September 18th on my MJ thread. I thought it was August

Because I'm pretty much at goal and can't justify the cost to maintain.

Adventlandonhs · 11/12/2024 21:34

Iv seen loads of people complain about 5mg and say the same.

I take my 5mg twice a week at 2.5mg to make the 5 so I get a bump halfway through the week.

You are obviously way ahead of me on your journey, glad it’s gone well. I’m unsure what will happen at the end of my journey but I’ve been reading that you need to come off it slowly.

jay55 · 12/12/2024 10:28

I lost nothing the first week on 5, then 1.45kg the second week, nothing so far this week.
But I wasn't having the big losses you had on 2.5 either.

murraymcgill · 12/12/2024 13:49

@Chroomy I'm on my 1st week of 5mg and I could eat I'm looking at food different from on 2.5

Chroomy · 15/12/2024 09:46

I've been absolutely starving the last few days.
Feel like I'm going to gain this week
