Two stone in 7 weeks

Whilst I am extremely grateful that MJ is working for me, I feel like losing two stones in 7 weeks is a bit extreme. I started off at 18 stone, so I have a lot to lose. I feel like I'm not eating enough calories, but I can not physically eat any more than I am. I'm on my period this week and expected the weight loss to either slow down or gain with bloating, etc, but since Thursday, I've already lost 3lbs. I know it probably won't keep falling off me at this rate, but gosh, it seems awfully quick.
For context, I don't go to the gym or exercise, and I'm on 5mg injection.
Has anyone else lost so much in such a short amount of time or is this something I should just stop worrying about and enjoy the ride?

I was bigger than you by 2 stone and was the same. Weight fell off at first and is now a steady 1-2lbs a week.

If you physically can’t eat enough though, then I would be slightly concerned. How many calories are you eating compared to your BMR? How much protein are you getting in? If you aren’t eating enough can you go back down to 2.5mg.

whilst 2 stone is a great achievement. a portion of the weight you have lost will be water and some inflammation. But if you are massively under eating you could also be losing a lot of muscle. Everyone losing weight will lose some muscle. It’s inevitable for the vast majority. But you don’t want to lose lots of muscle which could be a risk with very low calories.

I go to the gym and exercise mostly everyday. I have just started my 5mg dose. I have lost 18lbs in 6 weeks. I am finding my strength training is harder and I get tired more easily. I mostly eat once or twice a day. Smaller portions.

My BMI was 42.6 now 39.9.

If you are having no side effects and you are eating enough protein I would not worry. Maybe not go up a dose though.

On TikTok, based on the videos people seem to lose at that rate especially when they have much to lose. Calculate your TDI and how much less calories you need to lose and make sure you try and eat as much calories as your body needs, lots of protein etc.
I’ve lost 2 stone in 9 weeks but I used to be a couch potato but just before I started on the jabs, I’ve been actively exercising, doing lots of hits and weights. I thought the weight loss will be slower because of the weights but I’ve still lost 2 stone in that time and I’m definitely eating a minimum of 1200 calories a day. To be fair, I lost over 6kg in the first 2 weeks which would mostly be water and the rest has been slow and steady.

It will probably slow down a bit, I had that especially in the first month. Maybe try and eat a bit more protein?

LionAndEmperor13 · 08/12/2024 12:49

I started at 13.5 stone and lost a stone and a half in the first two months.
It slowed down to 1-2lbs a week and I'm now at goal weight. Just enjoy it - eat lots of protein and take collagen if you can.

I had a much bigger starting point than you and I lost some big numbers in my first few weeks. Within 5 weeks I've lost 3 stone 10.

I've noticed this week my weigh in is starting to slow (6lbs) compared to some of my earlier ones. E.g. week 2 -17lbs.

I'm tracking what I eat to make sure I eat enough and going off how I feel. Also chose not to go up to the higher dose while I was losing enough!

FlappingMadly · 08/12/2024 14:13

It will have been water weight and will slow down. Don't forget to exercise.

Adventlandonhs · 08/12/2024 14:22

I started at 16st 10 and lost 2 stone exactly in 7 weeks.
Loads of people have

Wow, that's incredible. I've lost 3.5 in 5.5 months and thought that was good!

Fatfiftyplus · 08/12/2024 15:00

I have lost quicker than I expected and I am not comfortable with it either, nearly 5st lost and it isn't slowing down yet - the health concerns of being severely obese have been replaced with concerns of the health implications of such rapid weightloss and I am not even on 5mg yet! The only visible sign that weightloss has been too rapid so far is hair loss but the other risks of rapid weightloss (which I am sure you have googled already!) do worry me.

The most important thing is to make sure your body is getting the nourishment it needs, and if that means reducing your dose to allow you to do that, I think it would be wise for your longer term overall health. I am considering reducing mine to below 2.5mg to try to get to around 1.5-2lb a week loss.

How long did it take for the 5 stone loss?

Fatfiftyplus · 08/12/2024 16:41

@Orangesandlemons77 under 5 months, it is averaging 3-4lbs loss a week which feels too rapid for too long to be healthy

OK I understand. How are you feeling, are you able to eat much?

TurnAgainBrightOwl · 08/12/2024 18:04

If I was losing at that rate I would stay at 2.5 and not go up in dose, or return to 2.5 dosage from 5.

TurnAgainBrightOwl · 08/12/2024 18:06

I would even micro-dose ie at less than 2.5 mg like @Fatfiftyplus is considering.
