Does every pen have a bonus dose?

I was wondering if all pens have the bonus dose or if it’s just the 2,5?

The 5mg pens do too.

How do you use the bonus dose? I just had to throw mine away- such a waste

Yes they all do. Each one contains around 3ml of liquid, 2.4 of which is meant to be administered.

@Nowthereistwo if you do a search you will find a load of explanations. But in short, the "bonus dose" is used by some people as an additional, normal dose (extending the pen's use to 5 weeks instead of 4, still within 30 days of first use). It is extracted in one of 2 ways, either by giving the pen a "hard twist" to break the mechanism and then injecting with a normal pen needle, or if that doesn't work, by using a medical grade 1ml syringe to extract and inject.

I should also say, if using a syringe a full dose is 0.6ml.

Yes all the pens do. The 'bonus dose' is just extra leftover priming liquid that usually amounts up to a full dose (or a bit more) by the time you're done with the official 4 doses of each pen.

I started using my pen later than intended so the 30 days have run out. I will be throwing away the last bit as recommended by Pharmacy rather than using it.

@ButterfliesnWaterfalls that doesn't usually apply to the bonus dose though as it's the 5th dose from the pen and falls within the 30 day limit.

Day 1 - first dose
Day 8 - 2nd dose
Day 15 - 3rd dose
Day 22 - 4th dose
Day 29 - bonus dose

The 30 days is from your first dose so you count from then.
Before you use it you have until the expiry date on the box to use it up.
So starting pen later than expected shouldn't mean you can't have 5th dose.
As the pp explained the 5 doses are within the 30 days.
