Is this mounjaro related??

Been on it 8 weeks.

No idea where they are from!

I sent photos to GP and have a phone appointment this morning and am worried I'll be told off for the mounjaro now 🤣

Are you obese op? Should you be on mj?

SilenceInside · 20/11/2024 09:04

How is your diet at the moment? It could be down to a vitamin or mineral deficiency.

You should send to your Mounjaro prescriber too. They definitely won't tell you off and will likely know more about Mounjaro if your GP doesn't.

Do you have pets at all?

I get bruises like that frequently from dogs jumping up my legs to say hi

I was 18 stone at my heaviest.

I just finished my last pen and have reached my goal weight. My BMI was 30 when I started MJ

I do have dogs but I've had them for 6 years and this is the first time my legs have looked like this.

Then you won’t get told off for taking mj…don’t worry

sorry edit, what is your current bmi?

leli · 20/11/2024 09:27

I too have bruises on my legs and dogs! Actually I have always bruised easily. If it’s just on your legs seems unlikely to be a systemic effect - if it were mounjaro I think it would be all over your body. I realise that I didn’t look at my body so much when I was much bigger. I do now spend more time seeing myself so notice my bruises more. Could it be the same for you?

It could be.

DH said maybe it's because I have less cushioning now?

Feeling a bit silly about contacting the GP now.

My BMI is now 23.5

V good point about the cushioning. I’ve wondered that too. I’m uncomfortable in bed now that I don’t have so much fat around my hips.

Yes, my knees feel very bony pressed together 🤣

Do you think I should ring and cancel the phone consultation?

If it’s 23.5 you’re fine, don’t worry one bit. I doubt this is mj related suddenly.

OP, as I posted earlier, do you want to contact your prescriber instead or as well? You can get peace of mind from them while not bothering GP if you don't want to.

Yes, I will do.

I think there's probably something to the 'less padding' theory. I am also noticing that my proprioception is taking a while to catch up with the reality of moving a smaller body around, so I'm feeling even clumsier than usual.

FlappingMadly · 20/11/2024 10:56

I would still see GP and be checked. You never know. As you’re at goal, congrats! it might be good anyway to check your vits/minerals are ok. Our body can take a hammering losing weight

Gloschick · 20/11/2024 19:34

Sorry if I am reading this wrong, but it sounds like you have dropped from BMI of 30+ to 23.5 in the space of 8 weeks. That sounds very fast. You might be undernourished which could be contributing to the bruising.

Sorry it was 12 weeks, not 8
I've had 3 pens and my start BMI was 29.1 to be exact.

Op how much weight have you lost in 3 months? The bruises could potentially be due to some mineral or vitamin deficiencies. Ie iron.

olympicsrock · 20/11/2024 21:24

That is crazy fast weight loss and you didn’t need to be on MJ if your BMI was under 30 when you started .
You probably are malnourished . Stop taking medicine that you don’t need!
Blimey - this comes from someone taking MJ who has lost 25kg at 1-2 lb per week . I am a big fan of the benefits …

Possibly.

I was low on iron before hand anyways.

I'll concentrate on that over the next few weeks.

I hit my knee on the banister this week and a horrible bruise came up. I can't remember the last time I had bruises, but also wondered if it was because of less cushioning
