Hello, I am 4 weeks into using Mounjaro 2.5. I receive mine on prescription as I have type 2 diabetes. I have lost 12 pounds in 3 weeks and will weigh tomorrow. I pick up my prescription later and move up to 5.0. I did have diarrhoea in week one but I think that was because I drank some cider. Has anyone had bad side effects after increasing the dose?

Well done @ twinkle toes, great weight loss, have been on 2.5 since sept lost 1st 6 and been fine re no symptoms side effects that were bad, apart from slight indigestion bit of constipation at first.
last week was on 3.75, but then the following Sunday I only took around 3 mg, that week was fine but felt really hungry towards end of the week, on Thursday ate a large fatty meal ( first one since starting mj) and the next eve I had alcohol which haven’t really been having and dined out again so ate fatty food again. That eve started with terrible diarrhoea that lasted 2 days. It really shook me up as had stomach pain then diarrhoea. Not taken this weeks dose and think am
going to have 1 week off it and start again in a week back on 2.5, felt like giving up but think it must have been combination of fatty food and drinks. Got 1 more pen in the fridge so going to use it up then see how I get on but if I get it again when eating well I am going to stop MJ. I still have 2 stone to go to achieve healthy BMI but tbh I feel would even be happy with another stone off. It feels weird when socialising I don’t feel as can be bothered and almost like I can’t be bothered to see friends which isn’t me. Not sure if anyone else had this side effect. Hope you do ok on 5.

Hello 5 weeks of 2.5mg incl bonus dose then week 6 of 3.75, topped up with 1.25mg upto 5mg few days later and yesterday evening went up to 5mg, fine throughout other than early days headache, anxiety, diarrhoea but I think was linked to diet as since increasing fluids, electrolytes and protein I've been symptom free and actually have had more energy on 5mg but just feel fuller.

I lost a pound this week which I’m happy with as it’s still a loss.

Hi Twinkle Toes - well done on your fantastic loss so far which I'm sure will improve your diabetes. I've just been prescribed Mounjaro as a newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetic and had my first injection today with the diabetes nurse. I was going to start a new thread to help me track my progress but then saw this one so I hope you don't mind me joining.

The diabetes nurse also did all the other checks including my weight which really shocked me. I knew I had put on a lot of weight as I've been essentially eating my feelings after some personal issues over the last few years but I'm sitting around 19 stone which actually made me cry. I have an existing condition which affects my gut so trying to eat healthily whilst not spend my life on the loo and simultaneously going through a personal hell was clearly not something I was very good at!

Anyway, I don't feel any different yet which I guess is totally normal! I'm hoping this is going to help with the dreaded evening munchies when I'm knackered from work and sitting on the sofa binge watching crap tv and eating crap. I'm desperate to reverse the diabetes and to improve my health in general so being able to hold myself accountable on a thread like this would be massively helpful.

Hi, I’ve been diabetic for over 20 years and during that time I’ve yo-yo dieted. Don’t be daunted by your weight, just take each day as a new day. It’s so easy to comfort eat. Be kind to yourself, what dose have you started on?

I’ve started on 2.5. It’s been a couple of days - I’ve had a bad tummy today but that’s not unusual for me so not sure what side effects are actually real and what’s in my head. I hear you on the yo-yo dieting. I just have lost the same 3 stone about a gazillion times!

I take my hat off to you managing your diabetes for 20 years. It’s all very new to me so still learning and it’s great to have the support on this thread. Thanks for the encouragement - much appreciated and needed.

I’ve just had my first 2.5mg dose of Mounjaro today! I’m rather nervous after reading about some some were hospitalised, and the recent death from pancreatitis after injecting the second dose 😬. I’m getting mine via my local trusted pharmacist, who I’ve known for 10 years and who will be monitoring me regularly. I’m a bit taken aback by the number of people on MN just buying it off the internet at an alleged discount?
