Anyone who had a strong reaction to 2.5mg - where are you now?

Hi all,

I've seen a few people on various threads who had a strong reaction to 2.5mg. Some of us decided to drop the dose, others space out jabs, carry on, or just stop altogether.

If you had a strong reaction to 2.5mg - where are you now? Curious to hear your experience and how you're getting on!

I had a tough first week, so dropped the dose and have been on 1.25mg for the last few weeks, which is working well (10lb down). Definitely starting to feel the suppression going, so might titrate up soon, but holding out for now.

Hi, I had a very strong reaction to 2.5mg but not with the most common side effects. Slightest nausea that was easily manageable, no sickness or vomiting, no constipation.
What I suffered was continuous headache, fatigue, feeling of exhaustion and lightheadedness, and generally felt unwell. The first week of 2.5mg wasn't so bad, but it got worse on the second and third weeks even though I halved the dose in week three. The suppression was huge and I struggled to eat, so I dont know if the symptoms were the MJ or lack of food. Big holiday was looming so I stopped.
I've bought a new pen with the intention of trying again starting on 1.25mg, and fully intended to use it as soon as it arrived... but it's still in the fridge unopened, whilst I dither about the best time to start where I could manage any sides. So I'm also really interested to know how others have got on.

I had extremely strong suppression and fullness from my first two jabs, some diarrhoea but no nausea or vomiting. I was concerned that I wasn't getting enough calories even with forcing myself to eat, and I didn't want my teen DD picking up on it, so I dropped down to 1.25 for week 3 which was much better. I started getting some hunger back at the end of the week so went up to 2mg for week 4, and then finally 2.5 again for week 5 and 6.

This week (7) I've braved 3.75mg as I STS in week 6 and was getting hungrier, although still managed to keep to calorie goal. So far (only day 2) it's fine - I'm not hungry, but able to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner with no problems. Which is the sweet spot and means I'm getting enough calories, protein and fibre.
I've lost 16lb/7.3kg which is 8% of my body weight.

@raspberrymeringue - I remember reading your post ages ago when I first started! Do you think you'll try the 1.25mg soon? It's scary starting again! I found the smaller dose so much more manageable, like I could actually live life again.

@Cocoaone - that's really good to hear you've been able to titrate up! Keep us posted on how the new dose is. I think I need to go up now, but feeling a little apprehensive haha!

I had strong suppression from the start and a little nausea with 2.5mg, I went up to 5mg after the first pen but struggled with the nausea and not being able to eat much at all, (but then that seeming. to wear off after about 2-3 days) so have just gone back to 2.5mg but trying that twice a week instead of the single 5mg. I am going to see how that goes.

It's the day after a 2.5mg dose and I feel nicely not too hungry but able to eat something, and not too nauseous either. I'm hoping that splitting the dose kmight be the way forward fro me, using 5mg pens, but a little concerned that I am taking two doses from each pen every week is this a problem with /breaking the seal' more than usual. I'm making sure to use the swabs carefully and of course, using a new needle each time (I bought packs of 100 swabs and needles for this so I never run out)

So, I'm planning on hopefully keeping on with 5mg pens for the future but taking 2.5mg every 3/4 days from them.

I suppose in a similar way it would be possible to take a half dose from a 2.5mg pen twice a week? Could be an option for those finding a benefit from 1.25mg?

I had strong suppression within hours of the first dose. That week I was ok with side eff

SunQueen24 · 12/11/2024 11:55

Oops too quick - ok with side effects. I waited ten days for my next dose because the suppression had been so strong, the second week I had diarrhoea, stomach pains, severe anxiety, suppression, nausea. I’m coming off it for now. It was awful - if I tried again (which I hope I don’t need to) I’d start at 1.25 and not take the second dose until I was feeling normal.

MargoLivebetter · 12/11/2024 12:53

@crumbsonmyface I had very strong appetite suppression from the 1st injection. I'm 3 months down the line now and still on the 2.5 dosage. I still have strong suppression, although not quite as brutal as when I first started.

My side effects are manageable now. The main ones are acid reflux, feeling full very quickly, feeling cold and as an emotional eater, dealing with my emotions!!!

For the first 5 doses, I injected every 8 days. I inject weekly now. After the usual whoosh of weightloss in the first few weeks, I lose 1lb a week pretty regularly now and I'm fine with that. I feel like it is very sustainable to continue like this until I hit my goal.

Hope that helps.
