Loose skin

Hi everyone.

I have about 5 stone to lose. I am well on the way and MJ is working great!

My question for those nearing the end is: have you been left with loose skin? How are you combating it? I have hyper mobility so very stretchy skin!

I’ve lost nearly six stone from my heaviest, five on MJ. I have some loose skin at the tops
of my thighs and my arms, and I expect to be left with a small overhang above my C section scar. Otherwise it is really not too bad and from what I’ve read it may improve further once I am maintaining.

I’ve been taking a collagen supplement and keeping my protein levels high but ultimately there’s very little you can do and it mostly comes down to luck, genetics and age (I’m 41). I do some dry body brushing to help with general circulation too. I don’t know how EDS levels of stretch would affect your skin after weight loss, I’m afraid.

I've lost 4 stone and have 6 to go, no loose skin so far

spottydogsarethebest · 06/11/2024 18:02

4 stone down here too, actually pleasantly surprised, loose skin is not horrendous, but everything feels softer somehow. I take collagen and always try to have 100g protein minimum a day, I'm 42.

Seems positive so far thank you so much for sharing! x

I’m 3.5 stone down. Arms and legs are softer and I guess the skin is a bit loose but not bad at all. I’m 46.

Just to digress - how do you manage to fit in 100g of protein? I’ve had 60g today (granola, yoghurt and fruit for breakfast. Tuna salad and feta. Then bolognaise for dinner)

Lost just over 5st probably 1 more stone and to go.
Lots of overhang loose skin on my tummy, and bit on the top of my arms, tops of my legs.

However I am 46 and been overweight for many years so my skin especially on my tummy is very stretched

I would seriously consider a tummy tuck if I keep the weight off until I'm 50 !

5 stone down since April. 46 years old. Yes - I’ve got loose skin at tops of arms and thighs, plus abdomen, and boobs feel empty.
agree - everything feels softer. Not loving it - but it’s not horrendous and I’m trying to accept. Plus I am so happy to be the weight I am. I’m committed to getting as much protein as I can and weight lifting from now on. Keen to hear if collagen works, I’ve heard mixed evidence.

I'm not who you quoted but I had:

3 rashers of turkey bacon, scrambled egg with extra egg whites and some cheese, plus veg.

Omelette made with 1 egg, extra egg whites, half a tub of cottage cheese, some ham and veg plus a salad

Chicken breast and veg stir fry with home made egg fried rice (made with one large egg)

Yubi protein bar (99 cals 10g protein)

This was comfortably over 100g protein.

Far too much egg yesterday, didn't plan that very well, won't be having any today!

I also keep some Aldi protein yoghurts and protein mousse in the fridge!

@Vegemite123 like @RunSlowTalkFast I do supplement with protein added foods otherwise I'd struggle too. I always have a bowl of protein porridge with chia seeds for breakfast, then a clear whey drink with collagen added. For lunch might be a protein wrap or protein bagel with chicken, tuna, or sometimes the Warburtons protein bread toasted- with poached eggs. Often I have leftovers from night before dinner, for example I have chicken drumsticks for today which I'll have with some fruit then a yogurt. I try to have a protein yogurts after lunch or mid afternoon if I'm too full.

For dinner often we have stir fry, I buy the protein noodles from Waitrose (M&S sell them too, or for example last night I had homemade burgers but with a lettuce wrap instead of the bread. Other favourite meals- steak & onion wraps (with protein wrap) Taco bowls, roast chicken with salad. I also buy the Merchant Gourmet grains, many different varieties- they are handy and easy as I don't enjoy cooking as much as I used to. Also handy are frozen edamame beans- high protein and super easy. After dinner I try and have a protein pudding too, like the GetPro chocolate pudding.

Hope this helps.

@RunSlowTalkFast and @spottydogsarethebest - thank you both for your ideas.

I adore eggs ... but they don't like me, so I keep it in moderation. But I can handle a hard boiled one in a sandwich, so I might keep a supply in the fridge.

I've put some protein yoghurts onto the supermarket list.

I have flax seeds on my breakfast, which (according to goole) have a similar protein content.

I've used merchant gourmet pouches in the past - I'll get some of those, too! And, never EVER used edamame beans in cooking. I'll google some recipes.

I’m in my 20s and am 2kg away from healthy BMI (although I still want to lose more weight). I have lost 14kg since August. I don’t have any loose skin, but I was worried about it as I did get stretch marks. At the moment, my weight loss has slowed down considerably so I’m not really worried about loose skin; it seems all changes from here on will be gradual. I had noticed the stretch marks when I was losing 4-6kg a month at the start.
