I decided to start the (new) 5mg pen this morning (after yesterday's cock-up with the bonus dose).
Scales have put me at 13s12lbs so 12lbs off.
Pleased.

Bluenose1966 · 23/11/2024 13:03

Age 58, 5ft 7โ€ on HRT.
SW 12st 2lb
W1 8lb
W2 3lb
W3 3lb
W4 1lb
W5 4lb.
CW. 10st 12lb
GW 9st 10lb but not really sure.

i am loosely following Fast800 for 8 weeks to give me a quick boost, though reckon for last few weeks have eaten more than 1000 calories plus I have had / am going on several meals over next month.
I try to eat very clean with at least 80g protein a day, and no bread, pasta or rice. I do weight trading 2/3 times per week as well as walking dog daily.
Have read that HRT can make weight come off 30% quicker and for me seems to be the case.

I am also thinking about maintenance as worry if I come off it will revert back to old habits despite my best intentions.
Glad to hear on the various health podcasts I listen to that there are several promising weight loss medications in trials. They were talking about a tablet that has been very successful in Phase 1 trials for I think it was something like 15% weight loss in 17 weeks. Plus they said tablets will be much cheaper to produce than the injections.
The only downside is sounds like it will be a couple of years off before they reach approval stage.

Click on the dose you require and it will sort the prices low to high.

Thank you! I ordered again through IQ doctor. I didnโ€™t realise Iโ€™d be able to use a code again, so Iโ€™m pleasantly surprised at that.

Great to hear about all this progress! I'm happy for everybody!

And for me! I'm down 10lbs.... and crossed under 200lbs for the first time in ages. I did a little dance.

I have actually been eating a little bit of sweet stuff each day, but never binging. It is the first time in my life I have managed to eg have one or two squares of chocolate, enjoy it, and stop. That feels amazing, and I am not feeling deprived, but still losing.

I'm so relieved that the idea of maintenance rises is becoming more normal.... I would love, love the idea of just a little help maintaining once I am down. While I agree about healthy habits etc, the experience of seeing just how radically all my compulsiveness has changed with this small chemical adjustment, has shifted my perception of what the problem was.

I've gone from thinking it was me being weak/ having emotional problems, to thinking that there is a slight imbalance physically. While that doesn't mean I don't have responsibility to manage it, it does mean managing it becomes more practical and with less self hatred...

Iโ€™ve felt similar feelings after reading the article someone posted on this thread (sorry I canโ€™t remember who) about the unexpected effects MJ is having. My take away was that some people find it easier to stop eating than others. Some people might feel all the time like we do on MJ. And that MJ has had some seriously positive results on addictive behaviours, including eating, which I think I definitely have suffered with. I used to feel so out of control of my eating. Almost like eating happened to me rather than me choosing it. Does that make sense to anyone?

Reading about MJs effects has made me feel less ashamed and more like my biology/psychology is a bit out of whack and Iโ€™m finally getting treatment.

Honestly, even if I didnโ€™t lose another pound, Iโ€™d still take MJ if I could just for the calmness in my head and the freedom from constantly thinking about food!

Fizzleaway1 · 23/11/2024 13:25

Week 6 and -2lbs.

Thats 26lbs in 6 weeks, 2 more lbs and it will be 2 stone although I think that will be a struggle next week as Iโ€™m very busy with lots of meals out but we will see.

I started at 16st 10lbs and Iโ€™m now 14st 12lbs, by Christmas Day I want to be in the 13st.

TheChosenTwo · 23/11/2024 13:41

End of week 4 done and in total Iโ€™m 13lbs down. Absolutely pleased as punch. Moving up to the 5mg jab tonight. Didnโ€™t want to risk staying on 2.5mg as I felt suppression waning after the first couple of weeks, Iโ€™ve been able to control it and itโ€™s good to be doing that but I felt ready to move up.
Have had no side effects other than a bit of constipation but itโ€™s my normal so it hasnโ€™t felt a direct side effect of the MJ.
the clarity Iโ€™ve had around food is astonishing. Just made myself a lunch and instead of picking crap from the fridge and cupboards I made myself something really substantial and sensible which will see me through to my evening meal.
I have also noticed a reduction in the snacks I buy for the dc - I was always the main crisp eater but I didnโ€™t really notice until I stopped eating them that thereโ€™s always crisps left at the end of the week, and not just one or two bags but often all 6 packs!

TheChosenTwo · 23/11/2024 13:43

And just to add to the above, Iโ€™ve had quite a few social events over the past 4 weeks and have effortlessly managed to make good choices with food and barely been interested in alcohol. The one night I drank booze I had 3 and didnโ€™t feel any ill effects. Just not been interested in it before then or since. Iโ€™m not purposefully depriving myself, just eating and drinking intuitively.

MontyJinks · 23/11/2024 13:53

Oh no, I've messed up! ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Jab number 6 tomorrow BUT because I'm not telling DH I thought I'd leave ordering until last minute, hoping that it would arrive today. I've changed supplier, uploaded photos etc, it has been approved but not yet dispatched.

Still have good suppression, but it will be interesting to see if that lasts with a slightly delayed jab. The mind is a powerful thing, I'm fully expecting to be instantly ravenous by tomorrow night, which I'll do my best to ignore!

I might just tell him now I'm 5 weeks in, I can then be more organised and store the next pen in the fridge ๐Ÿ™„ (like a normal person)

Tohaveandtohold · 23/11/2024 14:50

I'm so happy to read about everyone's progress and NSV's. And with how this thread is always busy and supportive.
After not having suppression on 3.75mg last week and only losing 0.4lbs , I went up to 5mg and it's been brilliant. It's like when I started on MJ, great suppression and only side effect is mild constipation. Glad I went up. Weigh day and I've lost 2.7lbs
Stats
SW: 87.1kg (192lbs)
Goal: Maybe 60kg (132lbs)
CW: 77.05
Total weight-loss in 7 weeks 10.05kg or 22lbs
I've now met my mini goal of losing 10kg. Next is to lose 2 stone.
I ordered my 3rd pen on Friday and it's been delivered already. I plan to stay on 5mg and that's what I ordered. I hope I don't regret not buying the 7.5 but I don't want to faff with counting clicks this time around. It came with 6 needles this time which is nice.

rockingbird · 23/11/2024 15:05

I did it ๐Ÿ’ช hard twist for the golden dose done. Wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be - I'd obviously worked myself up about it..!

End of week 4 stats:

SW: 11.13
CW: 10.7 (5lbs off this week)
GW unsure ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

total lost: 1st 6lbs

So onto week 5 we go..

EVK · 23/11/2024 15:34

Truly uplifting to read all your posts and the successes. @lickycat I totally get what youโ€™re saying - food addiction is definitely how Iโ€™d describe my behaviour. I would tell
myself not to eat/remind myself how wretched I would feel and then find myself going back to the cupboard even as I said donโ€™t and definitely it felt like a compulsion. Thatโ€™s gone! I always did the fast 5:2 diet or way of eating ( I believed in the health benefits) and the first time round several years ago now it was perfect for me and I lost loads of weight. Then I put it all back on! This time round, I tried it again for about 1 year! But I kept binging on the weekends. Iโ€™m not sure if restricting to 600-800 calories is good for me as it kind of feeds into my famine and feast mentality! Iโ€™m such an all or nothing person! But MJ has smoothed all that out. Iโ€™m sat in a lovely cafe, having done some Christmas shopping! Ordered a roasted veg. toastie and have left half the bread ๐Ÿ˜€this is the first time Iโ€™ve eaten out. Twas the post about itโ€™s expensive in the long run if you eat when you donโ€™t want it! I had to eat as I was so busy this morning I totally missed breakfast, I could have kept going but felt maybe I should eat something by 2pm!

I still get paranoid about every little feeling and think โ€˜oh no, is this it, have I messed up!โ€™ But I canโ€™t deny the incredible benefits of MJ. My parents and brother saw me today and were amazed by my weight loss. Mum said it was like having g the โ€˜old me back!โ€™ Ill
take that !

UtterlyQuackers · 23/11/2024 15:55

I'm down 10.5kg! Very happy with that. I'm due my bonus dose next. Can you get it over 2.5 by doing it twice?

Definitely been hungry this week but managed to not snack.

Watch is 2 holes tighter! ๐Ÿคฃ

It depends, on month one, no, as it would be taking 5mg a week early. But if month two or later then sure,

sorry edit, misunderstood. No, you need to use a insulin needle

Much easier to just use insulin needles

TheChosenTwo · 23/11/2024 18:59

I started on my first 5mg today, I wasnโ€™t going to get one last lot from my 2.5 pen but tried to do the hard twist to see how hard it was - I couldnโ€™t get it to budge ๐Ÿ˜‚

I used pliers to shift it and it worked. It's more cost effective for me to eek out an extra dose. If people don't agree with that then they don't have to do it.

I think you are right thank you. If I want a bigger dose than the 2.5 it makes more sense. Just ordered some.

I read online you can do a hard twist, do that and then do it again to get the rest out.

i think sometimes they get stuck and wonโ€™t plunge all the way back down. Thatโ€™s the only reason I got the insulin needles, just incase

Completely relate to this @EVK!

Took my fourth 5mg jag yesterday. Weigh in this week a little disheartening as zero loss, this is the first week I have not had a loss. I have been doing strength/weight training at the gym for the last 2 weeks so could be linked to that. I like to see how I feel at week 4 before ordering my next pen. I will do bonus dose next week and likely move up to 7.5mg with the hope of staying on this

Itโ€™s just about water retention, donโ€™t worry.

and itโ€™s not muscle, no one builds enough muscle in two weeks to make a difference on the scales, not even serious athletes. And itโ€™s more difficult for women to build muscle.

itโ€™s just about fluid, donโ€™t worry. You will have a whoosh.

lickycat · 24/11/2024 08:22

@Gilly1C , do you weigh once a week? I weigh every day because I find it reassuring to see all the fluctuations up and down. The day to day fluctuations seem to have no rhyme or reason and it does make me wonder if weekly weighers can feel like theyโ€™ve had a โ€˜badโ€™ week if theyโ€™ve managed to catch themselves at an upward fluctuation moment!

igivein · 24/11/2024 08:30

Weigh in for me this morning

SW: 20st 2lbs
CW: 17st 11lbs

5lb loss this week, which although very gratifying to see on the scales, I think may be a little too much. For the last few weeks itโ€™s been a steady 3lb a week, which I think is probably healthier.
Iโ€™m also either feast or famine and can find myself eating next to nothing if Iโ€™m not careful, so maybe I need to eat a little more next week.
Iโ€™ve done 4 x 2.5, 3 x 3.75 and did 4mg yesterday because I thought the suppression hadnโ€™t been as good last week (maybe I was kidding myself as with a 5lb loss I canโ€™t have been going mad with the food). Felt a bit queasy when I first got up, but I think itโ€™s passing now.
Iโ€™ll get a fifth dose out of this pen next week and will re-order 5mg pen. I intend to stay on 4 for as long as possible before moving up to five. Iโ€™ve got an awful lot to lose and worry about reaching the maximum dose and it becoming ineffective whilst Iโ€™m still obese.
Iโ€™m loving this thread, and whilst I only tend to post once a week I read every post and am finding it really supportive. Thanks for posting everyone - youโ€™re really helping me ๐Ÿ˜Š

qotsa · 24/11/2024 08:39

@Tohaveandtohold I know it was a while ago, but upthread you mentioned 50 pen needles costing less than five quid. I've been looking and, with delivery, can only find 100 for about a tenner. I don't want that many, and don't want to waste them, and would obviously rather spend less. I don't suppose you could tell me where you found them at this price please ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ Smile
