Update from me..

Nausea has totally gone. Thank god. Feeling good! Took the 5mg on Monday and everything is going well.

Something on my mind a bit today. I have about 6st to go. Anyone else looking to lose a lot of weight? It just feels so, distant. Like I will never get there. How can I lose all of that? Is it going to take years? I want it now! There are so many things I want to do and clothes I want to wear but they are so out of reach right now. Just feels like a lifetime away. At least it now feels actually possible.

Yes 6st here too (13lbs down so far I'm determined to get to a stone off in the next few days) although that only gets me to a BMI of 28!

I think that's why I have always given up previously as after a few weeks of living miserably and losing 3lbs I think sod this it's going to take me years and give up. Whereas now whilst it's still going to take a while it feels totally achievable! I would love to be at goal by 1st June when I go on holiday but that does rely on me losing more than 2lb a week I think so not putting any pressure on myself, at the end of the day I will still be much lighter by then than any other holiday I've been on for years! I also lift weights so it might be that I end up deciding on a goal of e.g. 12st instead as I get closer and feeling good in my body at that point.

ItsMintUpNorth · 14/11/2024 10:07

@HansHolbein also glad the nausea has gone! First week of 5mg here and I've luckily avoided the nausea other than a few random waves but I know it could be a different story next week!

TwinklesToes · 14/11/2024 10:08

I have been in your position HansHolbein and know how distant it can seem. I set myself target weights so I didnโ€™t get daunted. You will get there, we are our own worst critics, be kind to yourself.

Hello ladies,

I started on MJ 8 Oct. Did the 2.5 dose for 4 weeks and have been up to 5 for the last 2 weeks. I'm feeling like there's so much less appetite suppression on the 5mg and my weight loss has practically stopped! Has anyone else found this? I've got at least another 4 stone to lose (I'm 5'3). Not due to weigh in until next week but I can already tell I've put on weight!

SW 15 6
CW 14.10.5

Wk 1 -3.5lb
Wk 2 -2
Wk 3 -3
Wk 4 -0.5
Wk 5 -0.5

I was on 2.5 for 4 weeks, first 5.0 on Monday, no side effects but very little to none appetite suppression. Silly question, I normally inject in my stomach (thereโ€™s plenty of it lol) on Monday I injected into my thigh. I know logically it shouldnโ€™t make a difference but am I missing something?

Mincepieinthesky · 14/11/2024 10:17

@HansHolbein totally get this, seems like such a long way and out of reach. Definitely been my downfall in the past, my motivation lacks and I give up because itโ€™s so daunting. This time round Iโ€™m trying to chunk it down into smaller milestones and that along with the NSV has been helping so far.

Iโ€™ve had a reflective week this week, struggling with how i feel. Donโ€™t get me wrong the absence of food noise and lessened anxiety is great - but Iโ€™ve started to realise how all my celebrations, treats, achievements etc have always been linked with food and now thatโ€™s been removed thereโ€™s a bit of a gap. Itโ€™s been so shocking to me how much I equated food as a reward.

On the whole a good week though, end of week 4 and 5lbs down a total loss of 25lbs. The Christmas events start next week
for me so hoping my willpower stays strong.

Witchlite · 14/11/2024 10:26

@HansHolbein Iโ€™m a day behind you and I can truly say that if the nausea, cold etc is a bad as it was last night, next week, I wonโ€™t be carrying on. It was truly dreadful - I read all the posts, even if I donโ€™t post often, and you stating you were feeling better was the only thing that got me through it.

I was probably a bit silly and had spag bog yesterday lunch time. It decided to part way with me (quite spectacularly) at about 7:00pm ! Up every hour last night. So Iโ€™m still tucked up in bed. Still a bit queasy, but mainly washed out. I will need to think of something nice for DH, who helped by clearing it all up.

I was hoping for a stone and a half by Christmas- I might make it.

I started off with 61.6lbs to loose, and Iโ€™ve done over 20% with one pen. If I count by pens, it doesnโ€™t seem so daunting. Could you think of it as 10 pens to go?

PickleSarnie · 14/11/2024 11:37

@HansHolbein Glad to hear you're feeling a bit less sick. I started with 6 stone to lose too. And I'm struggling to not be daunted by it. It doesn't help for me that I've literally never been the weight I'm aiming for (11st 10 which is BMI 24.9) at my adult height so I can't even visualise what it must be like.

And, I'm so scared that, if/when I get there, I'll never be a slim person - there will always be a fat person squished inside just waiting to get out. It will never be effortless like my husband who has been BMI 23 for years with literally zero effort.

I'm also worried that I lose a couple of stones, feel better about myself and just give up like I have done in the past. I'm also worried about Christmas derailing thing. Whilst also being sad that my usual pre-Christmas hobby of poring through my Christmas cookbooks deciding what I'll cook and eat holds zero interest for me right now. Even though all the cooking and all the eating is one of the many things that contributed to my 6 excess stones.

Sorry - that was a bit of an outpouring!

I've set myself a first goal of "overweight instead of obese" and then I'll worry about BMI 24.9!

WafflingDreamer · 14/11/2024 11:59

I'm following the 5st + MJ thread it's quite supportive and really inspiring seeing all the small losses adding up it also moves a lot slower than this one

Fizzleaway1 · 14/11/2024 12:47

So although I now feel better, I still have the ๐Ÿ’ฉ โ€ฆ no idea why as I had approx 700 calories yesterday. lucky Iโ€™m still working from home today.

Just had an egg mayo sandwich from Costa for lunch and a cup of tea.

Glad you are feeling better.

Im looking at losing a very similar amount.

I started at 16st 10lbs and I would like to be 9st 7lbs although would be happy at 10st.

Im just focusing on my loss week by week instead of the bigger goal.

I have so many clothes already Iโ€™m just waiting to get back into. I havenโ€™t always been this weight. I was slim for 10+ years and only gained weight in the last couple of years so in my head Iโ€™m just trying to get back to my normal. It will take time but we will all be 6 months into our journey before we know it!! Time flies so quick!

Fizzleaway1 · 14/11/2024 12:58

Tbh Iโ€™m disappointed in myself anyway that Iโ€™m even as high as I am when I started this a month ago.

I got married in May and I lost 3 stone for it. I ended up putting 2 and a half stone back on since May so Iโ€™m essentially losing the exact same weight I already have in the last year.

IlovetoKnitandRead · 14/11/2024 13:41

@HansHolbein 7 st 1lb to lose here (5ft tall)pressure
My Dh has never known me slim. I was 14st when we first met and the lowest I got down to was 11st 6 before I had my hysterectomy at 42. I wasn't allowed Hrt due to high blood pressure following the op and due to uninvestigated Bp issues I now have damage to the heart. My cardiologist has said this is potentially reversable with significant weight loss, so here I am๐Ÿ˜‡

Fizzleaway1 · 14/11/2024 15:36

Anyone else now on 5mg and have the most horrendous burps? Not even sulphur ones, just constant normal ones!

It started after I went to that Greek place but gets worse if I take peppermint oil!

Yeah I had to tell my doctor that Iโ€™d gained a stone since she weighed me 3 months ago, and have now lost that stone in the last month since starting mounjaro, so I now weigh the same as I did when she weighed me.

she gave me this look Confused

I do this, I count in pens not stones. Started with 4 stone 7 to lose to get to 23.5 bmi, and Iโ€™ve lost a stone, so I think I prob have about 5 pens to go to target of another 3 and a half stone to lose. But I intend to stay on on a low dose and not stop using it.

MontyJinks · 14/11/2024 15:58

I had 5 stone to lose too, so I'm celebrating all the 'little' milestones, so I'm 1 stone down now, next goal is to lose 10% of bodyweight, then it'll be 'the weight I was when I started WW 20 years ago', then it'll be down into the next 'stone bracket', then half way through that stone bracket, eventually it'll be 'overweight' then 'healthy BMI'. 'm finding quite a few to celebrate to be honest ๐ŸŽ‰

This seems to really help keep me focussed. Keep at it!
We'll all get there ๐Ÿ’ช

PickleSarnie · 14/11/2024 16:00

@Fizzleaway1 Yes to the burping. I've not had sulphur ones thankfully but constant burps that definitely didn't happen until I went to 5mg. Am very glad i mainly WFH. My colleagues probably glad too!.

I've also had heartburn wake me up in the middle of the night most nights. Had to resort to gaviscon for the first time since I was last pregnant 13 years ago.

PickleSarnie · 14/11/2024 16:02

@MontyJinks I love that attitude! I need to reach inside myself and find some positive attitude too!!

RunSlowTalkFast · 14/11/2024 17:16

Just done my second 5mg jab so I'll weigh myself in the morning. Pretty sure it'll be around the same as when I started though!

Can't bloody wait for it to kick on one day and to no longer feel like you're all talking a different language!

What does indigestion pain feel like? Not heartburn (know what that is). But Iโ€™ve had a mild throbbing pain in my upper abdomen right side that occasionally moves lower down past my belly button. Itโ€™s very very mild and comes and goes and is more a niggling pain than really painful. If I wasnโ€™t on MJ I probably wouldnโ€™t be even thinking on it, but of course weโ€™re always advised to watch out for any abdominal pain due to gallstones/pancreatitis. Itโ€™s been accompanied by horrendous wind and burps (not sulphur burps just regular ones) and slight diarrhoea. I have reached out to my prescriber who just said gastrointestinal side effects like wind and indigestion can be very normal but to contact my GP if I experience severe abdominal pain - mine isnโ€™t severe at all! Iโ€™ve only had the symptoms since Monday and itโ€™s only today Iโ€™ve started to think it could be MJ related, as on Monday I tripped over my sonโ€™s step in the kitchen and twisted my back and side trying to stop myself going flat on my face! So initially put the pain down to that, but itโ€™s not really feeling like a muscle strain.

I was due my first dose of 5mg tonight but I havenโ€™t taken it as was waiting to hear back from my prescriber and now I feel no further forward as they didnโ€™t really give me a direct answer, just copied and pasted what Iโ€™d already read on their website. Debating calling my GP tomorrow anyway but donโ€™t want to be laughed out the door for taking up an appointment for indigestion ๐Ÿ˜‚

How are you feeling today? I hope you are feeling better?
