Long term prescription question

Hi just looking into this type of weight loss drug and had a question about getting prescriptions long term.

On Boots' T&Cs it says this:

When you subscribe to one of our services, you will have an initial consultation, and if a clinical decision is made to prescribe medicine for you, the prescription will allow for multiple repeat prescriptions providing a supply of medicine for up to 12 months.

Not sure if this is typical of other companies. Does anyone know what happens after that in this case? I would assume that they will continue to prescribe but if I have lost enough weight at some point to require maintenance but would no longer qualify as a starter ie not high enough BMI, would my previous WL journey and history be taken info account?

I want to start but I'm a bit nervous about the possibility of having issues getting prescription long term (shortages etc. we'd all be stuffed 😬).

Thanks ☺️

there are lots of providers much cheaper than boots.

Look at monj.co.uk which has a list of registered pharmacies you can buy from

Lots of pharmacies now do maintenance plans - google Oushk maintenance plans for an idea of the type of thing some do. There will be others that do them, but that's the provider I use/am familiar with.

@JamesGetIn What you've quoted is from Boots general Terms & Conditions and applies to their general subscription service for repeat prescriptions. It's not specific information about their weight loss injections. On the main weight loss page on the Boots website (https://onlinedoctor.boots.com/weight-loss/treatment) they talk about being on Mounjaro for 17 months, for example. It also says, in answer to the question about how long to take it for:

"As obesity is treated as a chronic condition, weight loss medicines can be taken long-term to help you reach a healthier weight.
For long lasting weight loss you’ll need to make some key lifestyle changes as well - we can help you with these."
