Weight loss weeks 1 & 2

MamaorBruh · 03/11/2024 08:59

I'm starting my first mounjaro injection tomorrow.
I KNOW that everyone's weight loss will be different, but out of interest - how much did people lose on weeks 1 & 2 (feel free to add 3 & 4 too!)
I ask because if I lose 1 or 2lb and that seems to be the norm, then I won't be expecting bigger things.

hi op, welcome and good luck.

its really common to want to lose big and regular but remember if your on mj then you probably have a lot to lose.

its not magic, you have to change your eating habits.

you will lose, (i lost 1 stone in 4weeks), but it depends where you start weight wise, what you used to eat/drink, exercise etc.

some lose 1lb a week, others 2-3lbs.

dont compare to others, accept a long slow loss is best, to maintain long term.

People lose from 1lb and more a week. Some are slower, some are faster. I'd say to accept how your body loses weight. I wouldn't say one way is better than the other as some people have slower/faster metabolism. So your body will lose/gain according to your body system and what is right for it. You can't make it go any faster unless you literally starve yourself, which you shouldn't.

So I'd concentrate on doing what you need to do with healthy food and exercise as Mounjaro is helping you do them so you can lose weight and stay fit, however long it takes.

If it helps, expect a slow loss so that anything more is a welcome extra. Expecting to lose a lot quickly is a recipe for disappointment.

7lb week1, 4lb week two. The suppression is quite strong for me so I’m finding it easy to be in a calorie deficit. I use the Nutracheck app every day and upped my water intake massively. Good luck!

(I was going to add this quote to my post but can't edit.)

Even if it's the norm to lose 4lbs to 10lbs a week, you can't make your body lose any faster that it does. So it isn't really useful to you to make you expect bigger things.

Thanks all, yeah I know my weight loss will be totally different to someone else's, I suppose I was just curious.

You’ll see a huge range of answers and you know it’ll be personal to you. You might not loose anything until a few months in (it’s normal but not common) you might loose 10lbs in the first week and then settle into a much more healthy 1-2lbs a week (this happens a lot)
for your survey this was me:
wk1 -4.8
wk2 +0.6
wk3 -5.4
wk4 -1.8
wk5 +2

i then settled into a really comfy steady 2lbs a week for a bit. Since then have stalled a bit. Lost half a stone quickly. Stalled again. And now back into v v slow loss. General trajectory is in the right direction.

Good luck with it all!

Thank you so much for this reply. I'm starting tomorrow and whilst I'm a bit anxious, I'm looking forward to trying to stop behaving like a pig!
