I've been looking at options this morning, can I ask where did you buy yours from pen from?. I'm also thinking I will try for 4 weeks and see how I get on, I don't want to commit to a subscription in case it dies not agree with me.

I started on 2.5mg last month and have lost 12lbs in 4 weeks which I'm thrilled with.

I went with NuMan but have paused the prescription because the price really jumped up for month 2 so might shop around.

Can I ask how you got them to prescribe it with a BMI of 27? I'm in a similar situation to you so I'm curious.

I went with med express, was easy enough and received within days Ur prescribed. It's one week at a time

I ticked the boxes that said (if I remember correctly) that I had family history of type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol.

You should only be prescribed at a BMI of 27 if you have elevated personal risk factors. This is because the drug itself carries some significant risks and it would be unethical to prescribe if the drug itself posed a greater danger to your health than your weight.

The drug is not licensed anywhere for aesthetic use (eg use outside of these parameters) because of these risks to health. If you have found a supplier who is prepared to operate outside these you should run a mile.

Ethical prescribers will notify your GP.

I looked at Numan earlier but worried about getting stuck in a subscription if it didn't agree with me.

Also many sellers state Dr's will be notified and I'd rather my GP didn't know.

Well, clearly I fit that criteria.

@aColdDayintheSun have just sent you a pm.

I would love to go this (and have it ready in the fridge). Part of me feels I should be able to do it myself, but I’ve tried that for a long time and now in a muddle of being 30lb overweight.

@LongtimeLurker2 - I think trying for a month is a great idea.

Thanks this thread and all of the comments - it’s given me the courage to try for a month and see.

I filled in the form and answered (honestly) that I have high blood pressure and a family history of DMtype2. I ticked the box that no I didn't want them to inform my GP. I was able to get through to the "buy now" page. I wasn't brave enough to go through with it though!

I would be nervous about a supplier who did not insist on notifying a GP about this drug. Online suppliers usually take your money up front and then pop up a screen that says your order will now be reviewed by their Doctor and if the Doctor agrees to prescribe your meds will be issued. Alternatively they may need to request additional information from you and they reserve the right to cancel the order if they deem it unsuitable for your circumstances.

I'll be honest, I think the first 2.5 dose hit me hard witch the feelings of sickness and stomach pain. This is the fifth day and feeling pretty normal apart from having zero appetite. I still don't think I will go beyond the first pen as I am already losing steadily and I am keeping to the calorie deficit - though it is tough not to eat less.

Cataddicted · 15/01/2025 15:24

Not proud of it but I did fiddle my actual height by an inch. I sent them photos too though and they were fine with it. People that are on it already are allowed to stay on it until they get to a BMI of 22 so maybe there is a bit of flex.

Please do keep us posted on your progress I'm interested to hear how you're finding it and what kind of losses you're having.

How many weeks into it are you and how much weight have you lost if you don't mind me asking?

I'm on week 2 - 3rd dose is tomorrow but I may take a half dose owing to how I'm feeling. I have lost 5 pounds
