Plan to take first ever injection in the morning but just had a huge Chinese! Does it matter?

As title 🫣 Will I have any issues? I don't plan to eat anything else now before injecting in around 16 hours time, thank you in advance!

Why? Seriously, why? You went to lose weight so why do this?

GrimDamnFanjo · 31/10/2024 18:35

Difficult to say as you may have side effects anyway.
If you aren't prone to them you'd normally be fine.

DappledOliveGroves · 31/10/2024 18:36

I would probably weight a few days. Greasy foods can trigger D&V with Mounjaro so I’d probably delay starting.

OvaHere · 31/10/2024 18:36

To be honest potentially you could have unpleasant issues. Rich, fatty foods don't tend to mix well. Personally I would wait a few days until the Chinese has passed through your digestive system.

Of course you may have the constitution of an Ox but I wouldn't risk it.

Because I have no off switch which is why I'm going down the WLI route to help me stop bingeing, is that OK with you?

No one here can tell if you'll have any issues (because it varies from person to person) but I'd think 16 hours should be fine.

However to be cautious, I'd wait a day or 2. Meanwhile, I'll take that time to read and know a lot more about this medication, if you haven't already, before you go ahead.

VioletCrawleyForever · 31/10/2024 18:41

With it being your first injection I would wait 24 hours.

Take it tomorrow night before you go to bed.

InfoSecInTheCity · 31/10/2024 18:43

I'd take tomorrow to eat healthy and drink lots of water.

Mounjaro slows down your digestion and a common symptom in the early days is constipation. You don't want your innards blocked up with Chinese Takeaway for the next few days.

Cerialkiller · 31/10/2024 18:43

Id wait 24 hours. I've found the real problem is that mj slows down food leaving the stomach so eating a large meal means that it would sit there making you feel bloated to the point of nausea.

Ignore this twatty response.

As others have said, wait, drink loads of water, eat clean, lots of protein

SilenceInside · 31/10/2024 18:45

If you are one of the people who gets an immediate reaction to the first dose, like I did, it could be very uncomfortable for you. It will sit on your stomach and take an age to be digested. I wouldn't risk it, and instead do as has been suggested - have as healthy a day tomorrow as you can and then do the injection.

HansHolbein · 31/10/2024 18:45

I would wait until Saturday morning. I’m sure someone did this recently on here and they felt awful.

Really?? How about showing some support for someone who’s obviously struggling with their weight. Good luck OP

MissHalloween · 31/10/2024 18:49

Can you take the day after tomorrow instead or don’t have the Chinese or is this a wind up thread?

IMustBeInvisible · 31/10/2024 18:49

If possible, also wait for it to digest and try and have a good 'clear out' in the toilet before you start. Adding more meals in - healthy or not - without the 'clearout' may also leave you blocked even after you start days later. Lots of water, fibre to get you emptied out. You don't want all that sitting inside if you get constipation too. Sorry tmi.

LBFseBrom · 31/10/2024 18:51

Gordon Bennett, words fail me.

Are you going to have weight loss medication forever and, if not, what happens when you stop?

A change in thinking is what is needed. It is possible but you have to be determined.

oh come on
night before beginning weight loss injections
scoffed a massive chinese

We are adults
There has to be some ownership of one’s health and actions

ketchuptom · 31/10/2024 18:55

don’t worry i’ll hide thread as it’s nothing short of frustrating

BetterInColour · 31/10/2024 18:59

No, I would not start with a huge Chinese and do your first injection. I'd get in some healthy food for tomorrow, eat very well, protein, very little carbs and lots and lots of water and then start the following day. Greasy or fatty food is not a good combination with a weight loss medication. Also, the days of huge Chineses kind of do have to be over if you want to do this, I do eat small portions of take-away or a treat very occasionally, as part of the overall calories for the day and that works fine.

VioletCrawleyForever · 31/10/2024 19:01

Sorry you are getting some arsey responses. This board is usually dick free and supportive.

Good luck.

Woahbodyforrrrm · 31/10/2024 19:21

If only all the overweight people knew that all they needed to do in order to lose weight, was to 'take ownership' of their actions, all their weight issues would be solved. How enlightening.

If only all the ignorant people who think it's that easy, understood that people don't choose to binge eat to the point of discomfort and that it is a medically recognised disorder/addiction, they would be a lot more empathetic rather than judgmental.

People who are addicted to drugs or alcohol can with willpower and great strength, kick their habit by abstaining from their drug of choice. People who are addicted to food cannot simply avoid food. This point alone highlights how complex the relationship is between overweight people and food.

Good luck @ThereIsAlwaysWine I hope the jabs work well for you and get you to where you want to be Flowers

BetterInColour · 31/10/2024 19:24

I think it's great you are starting weigh loss injections, or at least giving them a go. I still wouldn't eat a huge Chinese and then start though. I think the side-effects were worst for me those first few days and it took a while to get the stomach/bowel issues right, so I'd start off very steadily and boringly.

Sparklfairy · 31/10/2024 19:56

People who are addicted to drugs or alcohol can with willpower and great strength, kick their habit by abstaining from their drug of choice.

There's drugs alcoholics can take that make them ill if they drink. They wouldn't get much sympathy if they went out on the piss the night before starting Disulfiram, and even less sympathy if, as I've seen on numerous threads here, they then moaned about how unwell they felt once they'd taken it.

WLI are supposed to support you in your efforts to lose weight. Yet time and again we see posters expecting the drug to work miracles and having no accountability themselves. It's not 'mean' to suggest that if you've gone to the effort of researching, taking photos etc, and expense of getting hold of the injection, that you consider that to be the first step of you taking control of your own life and weight. And that includes being sensible about what you put in your mouth from the get go.

But no, the attitude seems to be let's cram in one more cheeky Chinese before the injections consign me to a life of dieting and misery. It's a poor outlook.
