What to eat when the thought of food makes you queasy?

I went up from 2.5mg to 3.33mg abd feel dreadful.
couldn’t eat Saturday. Had a baby bel yesterday.
I need to eat but everything is turning my stomach.
My usual go to for an upset tum would be toast but I worry that’s too carby so might be counter productive?

I recommend eating whatever you feel like nibbling on in this scenario. Having a completely empty stomach will only make you feel more queasy so better to have at least something in there. Toast sounds like a good shout.

Yogurt - Will line your tummy and give you some protein.

I avoid carbs as they make me feel
Bloated.

Go for things with a high water content so they aren't sitting on your stomach. Fruit is a good one. Carrot sticks dipped in hummus. As pp said. Some toast is fine if you can tolerate it but avoid much butter because the fat might make you feel sick. I find that anything stodgy makes it worse. If you aren't hungry at all, avoid any large portions, just eat a couple of tablespoons worth and see how you feel.

If you are having stomach cramps then it could just be trapped wind. Firmly massage under your ribs right to left which can help air escape your stomach so you can burp it. I was astonished how painful wind can be.

Also don't be afraid to skip a meal, don't just eat because it's a meal time. Yes try not to go a full day without eating anything but there's no need to be constantly eating.

I once ate no food at all for 10 days after a tondilectomy. Physically couldn't because of the pain. I felt amazing. Unless you have a medical condition or are underweight you aren't going to keel over by not eating for a few hours.

Id say have a normal but small breakfast. I find the nausea is worse when you don't eat

I went up from 2.5 to 5 this week and was feeling really queasy too.

Boiled eggs and toast really helped to settle my stomach.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 28/10/2024 09:14

Also mint tea and melon I find quite soothing. Not together!

And can I also recommend one omeprazole every morning in an empty stomach. (14 days max though)

IMustBeInvisible · 28/10/2024 10:00

A toast when you've hardly eaten anything and need it to settle your stomach is not a "too carby" moment. It would be helpful - have it.

Also, having a piece of toast everyday or every other day if you want is also not a bad thing unless it gives you bad side effects.

It depends how you’re feeling. When I have sulphur burps the only thing that helps is laying off eggs / meat / onions garlic / brassicas and increasing my intake of other kinds of veg.

When I'm struggling to eat really badly I keep a punnet of grapes on the side and just pick 1 or 2 when I walk past.
Figure they are good for me and they are easy to eat, help dry mouth etc and the thought of literally 1 or 2 grapes isn't daunting either.

AubreysMonkey · 28/10/2024 12:02

When I feel like this my 'go-to's are breadsticks, toast, electrolyte water and the odd babybel - if I can stomach it. I have stayed on a low dose so don't feel like this very often now - but remember it well!

Orangesandlemons77 · 29/10/2024 10:22

An apple or banana

ButtSurgery · 29/10/2024 11:17

I've lost a pound every day this week and ate toast most days, so don't overthink it!
