So what’s the point of the drug? I can just calorie count without it.

@thankgoditssaturday If you can calorie count without it then that's great, I would save your money and avoid having to inject yourself and take the small risk of side effects, and you will lose weight anyway.

The point of the medication is for those of us who cannot successfully stick to calorie counting consistently, who need the support of medication to achieve this. Just so that you know, the first 4 weeks at 2.5mg are not intended to produce significant weight loss for the typical person, it's the starting dose to get your system used to the medication. Also, the amount of medication in your system builds up each week, as some of it is still present when you do your next injection. So you may find that you start to experience the reduced appetite and feeling fuller quicker in the next couple of weeks. Or it might take a higher dose to achieve that, some people even need the highest dose to get the full effect.

I have been taking Mounjaro for 15 months now, and have lost weight consistently for that entire time. I have never been able to stick to a calorie controlled diet for that length of time before. Nowhere near.

apologies @thankgoditssaturday o have just released you are rh poster who hasn’t lost anything after a week. If you are able to CC without it then do that. The thing is it sounds like you have done zero research and just expect it to work like magic?

thankgoditssaturday · 01/11/2025 10:56

@SilenceInsideexactly if I need to just calorie count I would have done it by now. I’ve been through app after app trying to log meals, CBT type apps etc. I’m now paying through the nose for a drug with folks saying you need to calorie count for it to work! Well I can’t do that!

To be fair it did sound like you were suggesting you could just do that.

SilenceInside · 01/11/2025 11:04

@thankgoditssaturday well, I have found that I haven't needed to calorie count for most of the time. I have done occasionally just to check where I'm at, but I have found that the effects of the medication are such that my urge to overeat has been removed, and I can eat smaller portions without being insanely hungry.

I think my point for you was that you are only in the first week. The first 4 weeks at 2.5mg are not intended to produce weight loss, although it does happen for some. You may need another week or more to get the full effect. It is incorrect to expect the medication to immediately work from the first injection. I would have thought that there would have been information from your prescriber about how the medication works and what to expect, or you could contact them to ask for more information.

I have been on Mounjaro since February and lost a little over 3 Stone I haven't calorie counted at all, it helped me make better choices and I cook everyday now and don't eat everything I've cooked now.

I have cut down on what I eat as in portion size but still eating the same foods, what I have found is that I don't have as much of a appetite as before, also I suffer a little with constipation for a day or so during the week, not painful.

because I'm not felling as hungry I don't dive in to the biscuits and junk as much as before, if I get a coffee from Costa I don't also come out with a sweet treat as well anymore, and no more Tesco meal deals, takeaways or ready meals.

I'm beginning to taper off the injections over the next 3/4 months and in that time hopefully lose another 1/2 to 1 stone.

As for alcohol, I still have a a bottle or two of wine at the weekends

good luck with with whichever way you go.

ChiaraMontague · 01/11/2025 11:19

Don’t be discouraged! You are doing really well and you will start to see a difference soon.

I think I started looking visibly different around the 12 week mark. I was losing before that and clothes were feeling looser but it was only from 12 weeks onwards that it seemed to make a big visual difference.

Are you taking progress photos? You will be surprised when you look back!

StrongLikeMamma · 01/11/2025 14:08

Is anyone else feeling utterly exhausted?
I went to the gym yesterday and it’s like i’m walking through treacle today.

Just had to have a power nap!

thankgoditssaturday · 01/11/2025 14:55

Has anyone lost hair on this drug?

SilenceInside · 01/11/2025 15:23

@thankgoditssaturday yes, hair loss is quite common whilst losing weight. I had a period of hair loss, started about 3 months in, lasted for about 3 months and then stopped. Hair is back to normal now. It’s called telogen effluvium.

Connie0202 · 06/12/2025 07:01

Has anyone had chronic diarrhea... ive had it for 6 days now... although I'm trying to eat... everything is being rejected and coming away from me??

Ninjaheaven · 26/12/2025 11:28

No, if it was doing that to me I would have stopped it months ago.

That said, what are you eating? Thsts usually the biggest factor in this type of side effect

SilenceInside · 26/12/2025 12:24

@Ninjaheavenputting up with violent diarrhoea for 6 months seems a bit extreme. What dose are you on? The obvious thing to do is step down doses until you don’t have the side effects but are still able to lose weight.

I haven’t had a single side effect in 4 months. I’d really look at your diet. My sister and mum said they had horrendous side effects but they were drinking alcohol every weekend which really doesn’t mix well with MJ.

I've only been up to 7.5 .never gone higher .

The chicken is the least likely part of a roast dinner to give you bother.

MeridaBrave · 26/12/2025 16:14

That’s a great loss. Aim to eat over 100g protein mostly wholefoods. It’s long slow and boring.

CrikeyMajikey · 26/12/2025 16:48

I’ve lost 3st 4lbs in 7 months. I’m not sure anyone noticed the first 1 1/2 stone come off, they probably began to notice about 2-2 1/2 stone off. What I noticed was it came off uniformly from every where, even my feet have lost weight.

It’s usually anything rich, so roasties done in fat, creams or butters in mash etc, plus alcohol or high sugar desserts.

I’ve been on MJ for 6+ months and lost approaching 4 stones, but I’ve had to use A LOT of willpower as I can still eat massive amounts of food and it doesn’t seem to matter what I eat or drink! It must help me a bit, but it seems like it does more for other people!

Ninjaheaven · 27/12/2025 08:21

I have willpower and I don't eat anything fatty or dairy or cream butter etc .all my food is healthy .well I'm given up now I can't go through life with the shits .id rather get fat .
