November Mounjaro Starters

Nowthereistwo · 23/10/2024 17:28

Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

OP posts:

My goodness. I've just eaten a normal dinner. Pasta with salad. I think I've over eaten and feel really stuffed and a bit sick. Going to have to be mindful to reduce my portion sizes. No wonder I'm a fat porker.

AllstarFacilier · 04/11/2024 19:39

I’m in day one; I injected last night. I’ve just been reading through the comments and I now can’t remember if I held it for 5 seconds after I’d injected.

I woke up feeling normal today, wasn’t starving but I did want breakfast. By lunchtime, I wasn’t thinking that I was hungry like I often do by lunch. I took a sandwich and crisps with me and only ate the sandwich and felt happy enough with that.

Felt full up until tea time and ate all of my tea, though I could have had a smaller portion. I had some flapjack as I did fancy it and I had calories left to take me up to 1450.

I’m feeling ok, I don’t know if I’m actually feeling the jab after a day or if I’m running on a placebo. I’m also always motivated in the early days of a diet, so I don’t know if I’m also running on that. Managed not to shit myself in front of any of my classes though so I’ll take that as a win.

MissingDietCoke · 04/11/2024 19:52

Day 4 for me today. Definitely eating much more mindfully. Like you @AllstarFacilier I'm always really motivated in the first few days of a diet so I think that's really factoring in. I've been quite hungry today but I think less hungry than normal. I'm certain some of it is a placebo effect / in my head as we all know it's a starter dose etc etc. Still, mindful eating is the long term goal isn't it so that's no bad thing. I'm also loving this thread and feeling like we're on the same journey at pretty much the same stage, it's helping me, so thanks all!

Quitelikeit · 04/11/2024 20:09

Had a chicken Kiev 525 cals and a bag of frozen veg

bloated!

Planning to weigh in a few days

Pumpkinforever · 04/11/2024 20:11

Well my pen turned at 6pm. Had dinner. Watched the injection video a million times. Did the injection and no worried if I really did stick needle in as I didn’t really feel anything.

Husband ran off as he doesn’t like needles 😂

Hope to god this works

pomegra · 04/11/2024 20:25

Hi can I join please?

Been very overweight for a long time. Yo yo dieter who loses big and gains big. Tried them all. Successfully been calorie counting this year and lost 2.5 stone earlier this year. I've tried to make massive changes to my exercise and eating habits.. and it's working as I've maintained the loss all year instead of sinking into sabotage and a cycle of shame/putting the weight back on.

However, I also recognise I need to try and kick start this. I have a lot more weight to lose, at least double what I already have and probably more but feels too much to think about.
I've ordered mounjaro on medexpress today, not sure how long a prescription takes but I'm feeling motivated and excited/nervous to start on this.

ProudCoralBear · 04/11/2024 20:32

End of day 3 for me today, I’ve felt quite hungry today but not been as impulsive with food as I normally would be and I’ve just had 3 healthy meals. This is very strange for me I’ve also had a fairly stressful day and that would always mean wine and snacks but I’ve barely given it a thought until now. I’ve had a couple of sulphur burps and a slightly upset tummy today but nothing major. I have a long commute and day in the office tomorrow so hoping I have no bad side effects. My brain is just so quiet I didn’t realise how much noise I had all the time before now.

Jellybaby30 · 04/11/2024 21:54

End of day 3 and def not felt much hunger and I am always hungry a few hours after eating. Making myself eat 3 meals as can feel the drop in calories. My main issue the last few years is comfort / stress eating junk so if nothing else am hoping this resets my mindset and converts me back to pre overweight days of 3 meals and small treat, not constant grazing. Anyway had to buy prunes this aft as knew I was getting constipated and they've worked. Fingers crossed they don't send me too far the other way. Love reading how you're all doing

BrownJenkins · 04/11/2024 21:58

My next (3rd) injection is due Wednesday. Yet again I'm craving the wrong things. I've just eaten a cup cake, could quite easily have eaten 2. I wasn't hungry or bored, just weak willed. 😒

Notadream · 04/11/2024 22:18

WK1 D4 - Not lost the food noise, the bad habits are still there. I don't think they will ever psychologically really leave, I'm such an emotional/binge eater. Although, came home from a stressful day and only ate half a bounty instead of a whole one and didn't pour a large glass of wine ! I feel a strange full feeling, which I could still binge through I think but I know I'd feel terrible afterwards. Still got a little heart burn and very tired, but i'm peri with graves so it could be those. I'm also feeling a bit sad but that could be stress related. Thanking my lucky stars the side effects are not so awful yet. We move forward !!

Arglefraster · 04/11/2024 23:16

Week 1 day 3 I have constant headache & tired. No difference in food desire/thoughts, feel more full but that has never stopped me eating 😩 in fact I think part of my problem is I like to feel empty (I'm great at fasting!) or very full not the middle!

otoh I'm the size of a cart horse so presumably that means the dose is extremely low for me

anyway the horror of the cost/the side on photo are keeping me strictly to calorie allowance regardless!

MamaorBruh · 05/11/2024 00:49

Not sure if this is co incidence but I did my first injection this morning and I'm wide awake. Usually asleep at least 2hrs ago.
I'm up at 6am so this is not helpful...mm

Cakeybake · 05/11/2024 06:40

W1D6 still feeling really motivated, I think the suppression is wearing off a bit but still struggling to eat more than small portions, I'm not even a little bit tempted by snacking or high carb/sugar foods, and having to remind myself to eat. I don't know whether it's the placebo affect or the medication, or the fact that I'm committing money to this, but it's working! No real side effects from first dose and I'm expecting a big loss when I weigh in..( I had a sneaky peak already and it's going to be good).
I know it'll be mainly water weight, but I already feel less bloated.
I wonder whether it works differently on different people. Although I'm not diabetic (yet.. I was heading they way), there's a strong family history of diabetes and I read somewhere that it's really effective for people who have hormonal issues!

BleachedJumper · 05/11/2024 07:07

It should be my 2nd injection today, and I was hoping to jab this morning rather than this evening as I was starting to feel the suppression reduce yesterday, but I’ve woken up on my period and the first day is always bleurgh.

I might just take some pain killers, inject, and take a hot water bottle back to bed for the day! Luckily I’m not working.

rocketgal · 05/11/2024 07:08

I've just come on as well 😫 I really want to get started though so thinking of just cracking on?

BleachedJumper · 05/11/2024 07:14

Yes @rocketgal, I’m thinking the same. Unfortunately periods happen every month and will do for me for the next decade or so, so I need to just get used to mounjaro and periods together.

Is this going to be your first dose?

rocketgal · 05/11/2024 07:15

@BleachedJumper yes exactly! That's my thinking too. Yes will be first dose

Mrsredlipstick · 05/11/2024 07:17

Morning day 2.
,i was Mrs Burpy yesterday but all fine.
1300 calories eaten.

I'm too old for the ladies troubles but I do swear by salmon. An old scandi wives tale but it seemed to work for me back in the day.
I'm only going to weigh once a week as I can get a bit manic.
I'm clothes collector so looking forward to wearing some old favourites.

Hundredthmillionthdiet · 05/11/2024 07:45

W1 D4. Took my injection saturday morning. 4lbs lost so far but will be water weight etc.

Not sure about suppression. I still feel hungry but not 'starving' if ykwim but I definitely don't want to gorge like I was last week.

Bout a pack of 3 magnums last week and they were gone within the hour 😪 not to mention the sweet tubs I stuffed in to my face the previous week because they were on offer at asda.

Not sure if it's psychological or pen ?

Went back to gym last night and found it so tough. Had been going regularly up until end August but not had chance to really get back. Need to prioritise it again .

HammerbarnSausage · 05/11/2024 08:03

I'm in!
Thanks for starting this thread. I've been wading through the other 20 or so for the last few days so missed this one.
I'm on day 4. No real side effects, felt a bit fuller last night for dinner but hungry today. I have about 20kg to lose after decades of yoyo-ing but tbh my main reason for trying this is to stop drinking. I often have 1-2 bottles of wine a night 5x a week and feel it's really got a hold of me. There is lots of anecdotal evidence that mj reduces the alcohol cravings so I'm really hoping to kick it, and maybe lose a few kgs along the way. Interestingly I haven't had a drink since I've been on it, and haven't felt the urge to want one either.

Selkie9 · 05/11/2024 08:34

Weighed in this morning on W2 D1, lost 2.6kg (almost 6 pounds) in the first week which I'm really happy with! Still eating 3 meals a day but much smaller portions of course, and still enjoying a few glasses of wine when I've wanted it.

Second jab taken and feeling motivated 😀

Goldleafcat · 05/11/2024 09:06

Weigh in day! First week - took my first dose on 29 October.

I’ve lost 6 pounds!

I’m quite pleased because we had a weekend visiting family and I ate more than I had planned, including a McDonald’s on the way home yesterday (long journey). Over the weekend there were sweets, cake and desserts galore available and I didn’t have any of it, though I did have some chips with my meal on Saturday. And wine, which is probably my biggest downfall. This week - there will be less wine!

SW: 16 stone 6.5 pounds
CW: 16 stone 0.5 pounds
GW: 11 stone (a healthy BMI) - but in all honesty I’d be elated with 12 stone

(At my heaviest I was about 20 stone 7 lbs - I managed to lose 7 stone through diet and walking lots but the pounds have piled on again in recent years!)

jay55 · 05/11/2024 09:21

Hi, I did my second dose yesterday. Lost 2.2kg first week which I'm happy with.
Not feeling super appetite suppressed yet, and by the weekend was ravenous and had a shake shack.
Side effects just a few burps, a lot better for me so far than the other drugs.

Mrsredlipstick · 05/11/2024 09:24

@HammerbarnSausage hello.
I am an ex drinker.
I'm over on the alcohol support thread. Been there three years.

I post there under a different name to avoid abuse. None on that thread. It's been a life line for me.

Menton1 · 05/11/2024 09:30

Hello all,

I’m jumping on the thread too. I’m on week 2 Day 2. 4lbs down so far but I’m happy with that, as we had visitors and days out last week for half term and I wasn’t actively restricting what I ate.

I’m definitely eating less but constantly assessing if I’m hungry. I’ve realised I was eating even when I wasn’t hungry before, so I need to retrain my brain.

Im looking forward to increasing to the next dose and hopefully getting more appetite suppression. I found the second half of the week felt like I was back to normal.

Is anyone feeling colder than normal? Not sure if it’s a coincidence, but I’m freezing!!
