Telling GP or not ..

Considering starting Mounjaro.
I’ve 2.5 stone to lose and meet the criteria.
I’d rather not tell my gp (I don’t think they would’ve be sympathetic).

Are there companies which don’t inform gps?

You don't have to tell them.
But you probably should if you start getting issues, like signs of kidney injuries etc Helps build a picture for them to treat you appropriately.

I'd change GPS if you can't be honest with them. All drugs have complications and your records should show what your on.

Initially I felt like this, then I realised my GP wouldn't be very interested, except if there was a medical problem and then I would need them to know. I would let the GP surgery know, millions are on these things worldwide now so it will hardly be a big surprise and I'd always let health professionals know your full medical history.

Voy don't tell your GP unless you give permission (you don't have to - they will still prescribe without telling your GP).

Why wouldn’t you want your GP to have access to your full medical information?

As long as you are happy to not approach your GP for health advice/concerns then go for it. But then why have a GP at all?

Your GP won't even see the letter, it will be opened by an admin person who will file it and then most likely pass to the practice pharmacist who will note it on your medication record (and check their are no contraindications to being on it). Your actual GP will only know about it if you go and see them about something and they then notice it on your medication records.

Medino don't tell your GP and they're cheaper than Voy.

Not at all. It’s a really silly reason why I mind about this alone.

I have no intention of telling my GP.

On my NHS app, my named GP had read it and put the info on my records, so sometimes they do.

Voy is cheap once you use the discounts also they give you £50 off the next pen if you go to cancel. (without using referrals)

They don't honour the discounts!
That's why I've left them.
Load of liars.

I allowed my supplier to tell my GP. It’s just going in your notes. No one gives a fuck.

They did email everyone to tell them about the change? they do honour the ones they have at the time. It works out quite well with the doses 5mg-10mg too with Voy as they are a set price, unlike some of the others which have quite an increase.

No, they just removed mine with no warning.

Ok, that's a bit strange. I hear they have had some problems with their website. If you comtact them they are usually quite helpful. I'm glad you found a good alternative though. I'm considering going to Oushk for maintenance.

Ive had a panic as i was using mounjaro at 5mg but at week 9 I was about to renew my life assurance and notice my GP records referred to my use as medexpress had informed them. I am.having sleepless nights about assurance being refused or high with my records now showing mounjaro for weight loss. I only wanted to lose 2 stone and have stopped now out of fear of it being an issue. I felt so ashamed as if I was doing something my gp would judge me for. Then panicked about life assurance renewal

I don't think your GP would care.

I think my life assurance company may well have an issue with me being prescribed a relatively new medication online and will look for any reason to refuse a policy flr life assurance or might increase my premium. My question is whether anyone else has had issue with taking out life assurance and the questions they might ask about online meds.

It’s obviously your choice but I would really recommend having it on your medical records via the GP. Mounjaro has been linked to numerous medical conditions and if you were to develop any of these it’s possible this would be missed without the knowledge that you are using this.

@Len1811 what company is the life assurance with? The medication is correctly prescribed to you, the fact that it is done via a private online provider doesn't make it more risky than medication prescribed by a GP.
