Hard twist!

Has anyone been unsuccessful in doing a hard twist? Unsure if I could use insulin syringes so thinking of buying some additional twist on pen ones.... but will be gutted if my hard twist mechanism doesn't work BlushGrin

I got the insulin pens and found them really easy to use.

I've always been able to hard twist.

Swissrollover · 17/10/2024 18:24

I've managed to hard twist 3 pens by hand, but couldn't get them to work. The first one might have, but it was so stiff to click to "1", that I didn't want to risk it being stiff and difficult to depress the plunger.

I found the insulin syringe was much easier and I could accurately read the dose I withdrew.

WeAllHaveWings · 17/10/2024 19:03

I've done it with 3 pens and other then needing pliers to do it, it was no problem.

When I did it, it was really stiff to turn it up to 1, but pushing the dose knob back down has been no different to normal.

Tip - if you are doing part doses and want a part dose for your bonus too mark the clicks in the window with a ball point pen when you do a proper dose.

8mm syringes give me the heebie-jeebies too!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 17/10/2024 19:29

Just a word of warning, have read several comments on fb that there are 'newer' pens on which the plunger will not plunge for the fifth dose.

No idea if it's true but I would get some insulin syringes just in case (I always use them and they are fine 😁)

Redlightbulb · 17/10/2024 22:55

No idea if I have a newer pen.
But the plunger would not plunge all the way down for me for the 5th dose when I tried it 3 weeks ago.
Had to use an insulin needle.

Fizzleaway · 18/10/2024 06:04

Which size insulin needles do people get? 6mm or 8mm?

https://amzn.eu/d/eKPxua1 Would these be ok?

I would just do the twist method but I don’t want to mess it up and waste a dose

Fizzleaway · 18/10/2024 07:37

@Orangesandlemons77 thank you! Ordered some

No problem!

Ok think I'll get the insulin syringes then and be brave. I managed to give myself injections years ago for IVF treatment so I'm sure I will be able to do it again, it's just the thought of it! thanks all

Can you just go to a high street chemist and buy the insulin needles or do you have to get them online? Adding postage makes them expensive!!

Midlifecrisisxamillion · 18/10/2024 18:27

What does hard twist mean with MJ?

What does hard twist mean with MJ?

It means forcing the twisting mechanism of the kwikpen past its built in block position in order to inject the liquid that's left over after doing the 4 doses that the pen is designed to do.

Midlifecrisisxamillion · 18/10/2024 18:47

So going past 1?

WeAllHaveWings · 18/10/2024 18:49

So going past 1?

This video will show you

SilenceInside · 18/10/2024 18:50

No, not going past one. After doing 4 injections, one per week, there is liquid left in the pen. On the 5th week you can use that liquid as an extra injection, but you have to force the mechanism to twist from 0 to 1, because it has a block mechanism that blocks the pen after the 4 previous doses.

Thanks
