MJ - increase dosage or not?

I'm losing just slightly over 1lb a week on average using the 5mg dose. For the first three days the food suppression is very good, but after that it just simply easier to stick to my WW plan. I still get some food noise and sometimes feel hungry. I've not had any side effects at all.

I was thinking that maybe slow and steady was a good idea as I may keep the weight off longer, and find it easier to come off the meds once I've reached goal, but I don't know if I really should be on the higher dose.

If I order the 7.5mg and find it's too much, can I just take smaller doses? Would the pen last for an extra week (or two) out of the fridge if I did that?

If it were me I would move up and see how I get on. It sounds like 5mg isn’t quite cutting it for you. You can dial it back and take 5mg again if you find you don’t get on with the higher dose.

I agree with the previous poster, if 7.5 is too much and it doesn't settle then you could drop back down.

With my first 7.5mg pen I ordered it before I experienced some side effects at 5mg and so then I didn't want to jump straight up to 7.5mg. I did 5mg, then 6.25, then 6.875mg (or whatever the closest to that) and then finally 7.5mg for the 4th injection. I then did the remaining clicks as a 5th injection for that pen which was 7.4mg. You can use a pen for 30 days after the first use, which allows you to fit 5 injections in that time frame.

That's all really helpful, thank you. I might try a slightly higher dose tomorrow then. Do you use two needles and do two jabs, or something else?

On any pen, to do more than the standard dose you would need to do two injections each with a new needle. But that would obviously use the pen up quicker.

I’m also looking at moving up to 7.5mg pen. I think for my first dose though I’d like to stick at either 5mg (as I’m away for a few days that week and don’t want to risk side effects) or maybe somewhere in between at like 6.25mg How many clicks for a 5mg dose and 6.25mg dose from a 7.5mg pen please?
Thank you

Hi @SilenceInside - I might do the same as you when moving up to 7.5mg. How do you work out how many clicks please for each of those doses? Thank you

SilenceInside · 18/10/2024 07:48

@Casablanca1

There are 60 clicks for a full dose, so you can work it out using

(Dose you want / Pen Dose) x 60

So, if you want 6.25 from a 7.5 pen then it's 6.25/7.5 x 60 which is 50 clicks.
