Hi all.

I am collecting my first pen tomorrow evening and am a little bit worried about potential side effects.
I’ve read about taking magnesium, peppermint oil, ginger capsules, kwells..

What would you recommend as go to products/ supplements to have on hand for a newbie?

thanks

I’ve been fine with side effects (one week in! Second injection due today). Here are things I tried, which may or many not have made a difference:

  • I started tracking calories and trying to eat well a few days earlier, to hit the ground running.
  • I’ve very much avoided alcohol and greasy foods.
  • I have had mild nausea once or twice, but really very minimal. I have IBS and so I’ve been taking meds for that more often. For example, yoghurt often sets me off and so I take it with my breakfast instead of seeing if I feel ill.
  • I bought tea pigs liquorice and peppermint tea, so am having that once or twice a day.
  • And I’ve started putting flaxseed in my breakfast again (I was a bit constipated when I started HRT, so used it then) and haven’t had any issues there at all. I tend to drink a lot of water, so that helps too.
I have lost 3kgs so far. While tracking and making good choices takes a lot of effort, I just totally wouldn’t have managed it without the injection.

I have been fine. I take no medication. I make sure to have insoluble fibre 3 times a day. Base your meal on good quality fat/protein and accompany it with fibre. Plan what you will eat and prepare in advance whatever you can because if suppression or nausea hits you won’t feel like it. Regular small meal will deter nausea as will keeping busy. Don’t eat after dinner because as MJ slows digestion it will make you feel rubbish. Likewise high fatty or sweet foods might have you sitting on the loo all night.
Finally, join the October starting thread where you’ll have tons of support. Have a read of ‘Continuing Mounjaro’ which has useful info.

Supplements I take are collagen, protein powder, a vitamin powder I add to my shake and a multi vit.
Try to eat something fermented every day - kefir, Fage or similar yogurt, cheddar, kimchi, sauerkraut,

Thanks all for this. I have just taken my first dose! Excited but a bit scared about how I will feel tomorrow 😱
