Had first dose yesterday morning and started to feel achey / fluey (without the cold) last night with migraine this morning. It’s def the Mounjaro. Anyway who is prone to migraines experienced this and did it last? Thanks

Can I use less than the 2.5mg dose next time by not turning all the way ?

Hi, I suggest you join October starters thread where you’ll have tons of support. Have a read of the main thread too ‘Continuing Mounjaro’.
I am prone to migraines and MJ if anything has made it better. Are you hydrating adequately and eating sufficiently?
You can reduce dose but I’d give it a week or so. You might simply have a cold!
Good luck!

Marbles55 · 15/10/2024 11:28

Thanks @FlappingMadly will join. This is def a reaction to the Mounjaro. No real appetite suppression so it’s not related to that. Am researching reducing dose / micro dosing. My migraines are a deal breaker as they’re so severe and yes was hoping it would help them.

I think you need to separate migraine from MJ. You have just started out. I ask again, are you drinking enough? 2.5 is a micro dose but of course you can reduce it or even stop.

FlappingMadly · 15/10/2024 11:34

You must read through the threads where you’ll get loads of info.

You need to drink loads of water. I feel like you on the first day if I don't drink enough water. Dehydration is a migraine trigger.

In my first few weeks of MJ I was getting a dehydration headache if I didn't manage 3-4 pints of water in addition to my coffee/tea etc.

Pre MJ I never drank more than a pint of water a day.

Marbles55 · 15/10/2024 15:59

Thank you both. I’m drinking plenty and eating. Spent the day in bed absolutely zonked and now up but still feeling dizzy etc. Im not entirely surprised as I over react to many things and have to start slow. If I carry on next week it will have to be at a much reduced dose.

I felt pretty much the same. Lasted about 2 days.

spuddy4 · 15/10/2024 16:06

I get the same side effects. They last for the first 48 hours and I'm on 10mg now. It's horrible but it helps if you can plan to inject around the days which you are less busy I find.

Marbles55 · 15/10/2024 16:06

@Midlifecrisisxamillion were you ok at 2nd dose?

I'm not due my 2nd dose until tomorrow. I'll let you know.

Marbles55 · 15/10/2024 16:11

@Midlifecrisisxamillion fingers crossed for you. Would be interested to hear. I really hope I am able to function a bit by tomorrow.

By day 3 I was tons better so fingers crossed you are too.

I've started low as well, half the 2.5 dose, and am finding it is enough to suppress somewhat without giving too many side effects. I have been reading up on micro dosing as well and see no need to go up really if it's working like it is in this small amount. Listened to a really interesting podcast about this last night.

Owels · 15/10/2024 17:05

Try taking an electrolyte drink. I get the same as you and this helps massively.

Marbles55 · 15/10/2024 17:16

@Owels thanks will try to get some.

@PeachyKeane yes I listened to this this morning! It obvious to me I need to go down. Do you know if it’s a problem to then reorder less frequently ?

PeachyKeane · 15/10/2024 17:30

I don't think so, I've delayed my next delivery until mid November and also asked them not to increase the dosage. I think perhaps there is a shelf life of the product but if it's working without me feeling crap then I would be happy with that. It's an amazing product, I've dropped 7lbs this first week.

Marbles55 · 18/10/2024 13:29

@Midlifecrisisxamillion how did 2nd dose go? I’m a little better day 5!

I get awful migraines and so far Mounjaro hasn’t triggered any. I’m only on Day 2 but like you migraines are an actual deal breaker for me. They are so severe they put me in bed for a whole day of throwing up, slurred speech, confusion and not being able to feel my limbs - never mind the blinding headache. And then I get the “hangover” for days after. I knew before even starting MJ that if I started to get more frequent migraines as a side effect I would stop as it would drastically affect my quality of life, even 1 a week after dosing would be too much - never mind my sickness record at work, which I’d be on written warnings before you know it with 1-2 days off per attack. I only get one migraine every 2-3 months usually so I’d definitely know if MJ related, but I totally sympathise with you. Make sure you’re keeping hydrated and eating enough - I haven’t experienced the appetite suppression yet but low blood sugar can trigger migraines so if you have that really try and eat little and often to try and avoid it. Maybe try next dose and if it happens again contact your prescriber to see what they advise. You could just need to get used to it.

@Midlifecrisisxamillion how did 2nd dose go? I’m a little better day 5!

@Marbles55 I injected dose 2 on Weds and I've been absolutely fine. No side effects whatsoever thank goodness! Glad you're starting to feel better.

Marbles55 · 18/10/2024 16:20

@Midlifecrisisxamillion great news!!! I didn’t have that much appetite suppression but it’s totally gone today along with feeling slightly better . So that doesn’t bode welll really if I drop my dose.

@Mummy20213x0 glad to hear it hasn’t triggered anything. Tbh the migraine wasn’t the worst side effect this week. Had awful leg pain that’s stopped me sleeping and major fatigue. Just got to decide if I dare try another week at this dose in the hope I have the same experience as @Midlifecrisisxamillion !
