Does Mounjaro stop proctalgia? What else can it do?

Ok - for the last ten years I’ve suffered with this. From everything I’ve read I have Levator Ani Syndrome. Once a month (linked to my period) I get muscle spasms in my rectum which build and build for about an hour and then completely disappear. (Similar to javelin bum for those who experience that particular delight!)

While it lasts, the pain is debilitating. I saw the doctor but it’s hard to diagnose, and there isn’t any particular cure.

But since starting Mounjaro in April, I’ve not had a single attack. That’s after it happening every month for years. Could be coincidence, but Levator Ani is very under researched and I do wonder if there is a link. It seems there are lots of side benefits of GLP1 being reported.

Long shot, but I’d be so interested to hear if the same thing has happened to anyone else, or are there other conditions it seems to have helped?

Op, have you been tested for celiac?
It’s great news MJ has eased your symptoms! Given it has your docs need to think about triggers and treatment. Hope you continue to have relief!

I’ve never been tested for celiac, hasn’t ever crossed my mind as a possibility - interesting!

Nothing to add but wanted to say I’m really happy for you ☺️

Thanks! No more arse pain is pretty great 😊 - will need to see what happens if I stop MJ, as I’m at goal weight now.
