The press is really whipping up the anti " fat jab" rhetoric and reporting this new trial in a very misleading manner. They are very much putting the emphasis on " unemployed getting it for free" whereas if I understand it correctly, there will be a wide demographic in the trial, including unemployed people. They are trying to push both the buttons of " lazy fat people" and " benefit scroungers".

I am certainly going to keep my head down for the foreseeable future while it is the gutter presses new favourite topic, and just get on with my weight loss journey quietly, until the truth about weight loss medication is more widely known.

I have a visit to a Daily Mail reading close relative in the next day or so and will definitely have to bite my tongue 🤣

Ithinkimrincewind · 16/10/2024 06:39

Those horrible articles and the way people react are why I'm not telling people. I feel almost guilty that MJ is working for me and I have a couple of people who've asked how I lost weight. I'm now answering that I'm being really strict on diet and exercising, which is true but I feel like a fraud.
This thread has been amazing as I can hear everyone else's stories and wins without feeling bad

SilverSprings510 · 16/10/2024 07:31

Weigh in today: -3lbs meaning I’ve now lost 31lbs/2st 3lb 🤩

Weigh ins: -7, -5, -3, -2, -5, -5, -1, -3 ✨

Wingingit11 · 16/10/2024 07:39

Wow @SilverSprings510 they are massive losses! What was your SW if you don’t mind me asking?

MargoLivebetter · 16/10/2024 07:44

@ChunkyMunky at the risk of teaching grannies to suck eggs and all that, have you tried prescription anti-nausea like Ondansetron?

@SilverSprings510 - whoop, whoop. Fabulous loss.

owlyboo · 16/10/2024 08:05

Oh that's good to hear @JoyousSwan. I did my first 7.5mg yesterday and so far so good!

@Ithinkimrincewind it's not a miracle drug and unless you were trying very hard with diet and exercise you wouldn't have lost a pound! It's no different to joining a gym, joining a weight loss plan, it's a weight loss aid. Definitely don't feel a fraud! I'm really proud myself and I'm not ashamed to say in am proud. I actually tell myself every night in bed how proud I am before I go to sleep. I realise I sound bonkers but I used to speak so horribly to myself I now make an active effort to talk to myself the way I would a best friend not an enemy!!

Well done @SilverSprings510 that's fabulous! (Weight loss twins I've also lost 31lbs so far! (Although a bit of mine was pre MJ)

How you feeling today @ChunkyMunky?

Looks like my walk today will be a wet one... great! Supposed I better get used to it now the weather will start changing!

FreeFreedom · 16/10/2024 08:24

Almost 10 weeks in and I've lost 2.2stone (a total of 30.9lbs) so far! I'm so happy!

I'm sticking to 5mg as it still working for me. Good suppression and little side effects. I'm also on prescription Lanzoprazol (long before MJ) so maybe it's helped keep the acid reflux side effects at bay.

Glittermoonlight · 16/10/2024 08:28

Fantastic losses @SilverSprings510 & @FreeFreedom 🎉- well done! Have other people started to notice yet?

MargoLivebetter · 16/10/2024 08:29

@FreeFreedom 👏well done.

FreeFreedom · 16/10/2024 08:38

Oh thank you @MargoLivebetter @Glittermoonlight

Glitter, nor yet or if they have, no one has said a thing. I understand because they may not know if they should mention my weight or not. It can be a sensitive topic for many people iykwim.

Pinkjenny · 16/10/2024 08:47

@SilverSprings510 These are amazing losses, well done!

Pinkjenny · 16/10/2024 08:48

@FreeFreedom And yours!! Amazing!

FreeFreedom · 16/10/2024 08:52

Thanks @Pinkjenny and well done on your loss too @SilverSprings510 All amazing!

owlyboo · 16/10/2024 08:54

Well done @FreeFreedom! Agreed about people not knowing if they should mention and also some people find it hard to mention as they struggle with their own.

I put on a coat today I haven't worn in a year and it's HUGE! Came downstairs in it and my son said 'mummy why are you wearing such a big coat?!' 😂

Katkins17 · 16/10/2024 08:55

Morning all.

Weigh in this morning.

16.8.24 -SW 16.2
CW - 13.13
TW - 11.0

I'm delighted how it's going. However I'm absolutely bone chilled cold all the time.
To the point that I'm wearing a woolly hat indoors !!!

NippyCrab · 16/10/2024 08:58

I see Voy are ramping up their advertising for medicated weight loss, it's constant on Instagram.

Wingingit11 · 16/10/2024 08:59

@NippyCrab a LOT of companies also seem to be jumping on bandwagon - I guess a great market to get into! Hopefully prices might lower a tad

owlyboo · 16/10/2024 08:59

Well done @Katkins17! Lots of people complain of the cold. I've been okay so far. I only really get it now and again. Oodies are fab for in the house if you're cold!

Katkins17 · 16/10/2024 09:02

lol... absolutely... I have a thick cardigan, my Oodle and a fleece blanket.

I'm still sitting shivering !!!

Oh and my bobble hat on ... it's as if I'm living in an unheated hovel !!

owlyboo · 16/10/2024 09:03

Oh dear @Katkins17 think of the calories the shivering is burning 😂😂

I should maybe do a few star jumps as well. !!!

MargoLivebetter · 16/10/2024 09:06

I'm struggling with being cold too. It isn't as bad as when I first started and it felt like I had ice running through my veins, but I'm definitely needing extra layers. I also shove a hot water bottle under my gilet when I'm WFH. Going to have to look up an Oodie/Oodle. Never heard of them!

Timetochange24 · 16/10/2024 09:07

Congratulations on big coats and 30lb + losses! @ChunkyMunky I hope you're feeling a bit better this morning.

Weigh in here too. I did my 8th jab on Monday.

SW: 89kg/14st
CW: 78.5kg/12st 5
TW: 63kg/9st 13 (BMI 24.6)

I'm 23lb down and 4.3lb away from a BMI under 30 which somehow feels more of a milestone than actually getting to my target.

Feeling quite grotty today as bad sleep, a weekend of too-rich food and my post-jab digestive slowdown collide, but starting this medication has still been one of the best decisions I've made for a long time.

SilverSprings510 · 16/10/2024 10:16

Thanks all. Was a bit worried I’d made a mistake not going up to 7.5 but after -3 this week I feel I’ve made the right call.
@Wingingit11 SW was 19st 🫣
CW is 16st11
So a way to go yet. My next interim goal is less than 100kgs.

owlyboo · 16/10/2024 10:39

Great weight loss @Timetochange24 ! I'm also teetering on the falling below bmi 30. 2 more kg and I'll be in the 'overweight' rather than obese! Sorry you're feeling grotty!

Just got back from a 5 mile walk. And it was a very very wet one! Coat wasn't waterproof properly and by the end of it I was soaked right through!
