Not hungry

Hi all, I started my first mounjaro injection 4 days ago. And have found that it has killed my appetite pretty much completely. I make myself a smaller dinner in the evening and that's it. Should I make myself eat something small at each mealtime. Any advice much appreciated 👍

I'm not on weight- loss treatment, but I stopped taking my meds. I've hardly eaten in like a week, the fats melting off me, it's amazing ! How heavy are you/ how much you needing to lose ? If it's a lot I would just say, go with it, don't eat if you're not hungry. The body goes into ketosis, burns fat for energy if we starve

You should take the opportunity to relearn how to eat properly so that when you have reached your goal weight and stop taking MJ, you do not put it back on again. So I would say yes, small, balanced meals, with protein.

One of the risks of rapid weight loss is losing lean muscle mass not fat. You're after a slow, steady fat loss - 500-700 g per week.

You should definitely eat small meals even when not feeling hungry otherwise you'll make yourself really ill. I've been on it one week and definitely did not eat enough the few days after the injection. Second injection I won't be doing the same!

I wonder if I could be prescribed these on the NHS- seeing as my rapid weight gain is medication induced. I've not been taking them, and I really should be

Did the provider of the injections not talk this through with you, provide meal plans, or discuss what, when and how much you should eat?

Lola3034 · 09/10/2024 07:58

You have to eat even if not hungry! Otherwise you can make yourself very ill. I know that rapid weight loss is tempting, but that's not the way forward! It's about portion control and healthy choices. Your body needs nutrients. Make sure you eat small balanced meals at regular intervals.

How many calories are you taking in daily? How many portions of fruit and veg, how many grams of protein?

You need to obviously be eating at a safe level. I.e., not 400 calories a day. But if you're eating 1200-1400 you're probably fine.

Maybe if you're really not up to eating proper meals, you could drink a slim fast or two a couple times a day ? Full of nutrients
