I’ve just had my Mounjaro prescription approved and an email to say I can collect it from tomorrow afternoon from the pharmacy. I have a few questions which I’m hoping can be answered on here, as it’ll help me decide when to start taking it!

Mainly - side effects. I’m probably overthinking but I know some people can get them…

  1. what can I expect after the first jab? I know everyone is different but is there a chance I will feel really poorly? I can’t be off sick from work atm (sickness absence triggers in place) and am worried I’ll be too unwell to work? Has anyone had this? If it’s likely, I may need to wait to do it until the weekend, but then that means my weekend is a write off and I have a toddler to look after!
  2. Will I be able to excercise the day after taking it? I’m intending to inject before going to bed to hopefully sleep off any of the worser effects. I go to a very intense bootcamp at my gym 2-3 times a week. It makes me feel like I’m about to keel over and have a heart attack at the best of times, so am I being unrealistic to think I can do this the day after injecting when I may be feeling rubbish from side effects? Last thing I need is to have a funny turn in the gym or have to stop as that’ll get the trainer’s attention, and I don’t want anyone to know I’m taking it.

Also, any tips and pointers for a beginner are very welcome! Very nervous about taking it but excited for the results. I’ve been debating it for months after seeing how well a family member has done on it. I’m sick of not being able to lose weight no matter how hard I try - I’m 4 stone heavier than ever since having my son and I just can’t shift it. I don’t recognise myself in the mirror, I’m concerned about the health risks associated with obesity, I struggle to do exercise I used to love because of how heavy I am, work so hard to lose even half a stone only to gain it back so quickly, and it’s so demotivating. I’m really hoping this will give me a kickstart and give me the motivation I need. I know I need to eat healthily and exercise alongside it, I’m hoping this stops the food noise and I can focus on healthy meals rather than my next craving or snack!

O would suggest joining the October starters thread where you will find many people in your position with similar questions.

The biggest thing to remember on this medication is that we are all different and all react differently so nobody can answer your questions for certain.

The only side effect I had on starting was an uncomfortably full feeling. A few weeks later, I had some diarrhoea but, in hindsight, I think that was linked to too much wine!

Yes, you should be absolutely fine to go to your boot camp m but if you're not, it won't last long!

Good luck😁

Maybe you could ask some questions when you collect from the pharmacy? there is a lot online as well, main ones seem to be nausea, headache I think.
