How do you feel starting ozempic?

I had my second injection and feel like I've been run over by a bus this morning.

Headache, achy and a little nauseous. Does this ease off? I lost a lot of weight on keto years ago and it's very slowly been creeping back. So I want to stop myself going back to where I was!

Just wondering if the body aches are normal, I feel like I've overdone it in the gym.

99kg this morning, 7kg down in two weeks so I'm happy! Third injection tonight for me.

On Wegovy and feeling great so far. Took my first one on Thursday. A bit burpy and have indigestion but otherwise feel great and have even more energy than before, which is odd but I shan't complain!

lunar1 · 07/10/2024 07:53

@tryingtocarpediem hoping I get my energy back soon. I went on my peloton yesterday for 20 minutes and fell asleep for an hour after 🤣

@BigGreyDusty Ive just been px the Rybelsus tablet by my diabetes nurse to treat my T2 which is I believe the same as the Semaglutide drug as in the Ozempic injection, would you be able to discuss this with your gp ? One of the side effects is appetite suppression and weight loss but less aggressive than the injections I hear ,Im at the end of my first week at the 3mg start dose and food noise and appetite is already diminishing , good luck x

BigGreyDusty · 07/10/2024 15:31

@Anteater1969 Ah, thank you! I have a check up at the end of the week, I'll ask about Rybelsus and see what they say.

Anteater1969 · 07/10/2024 21:13

@BigGreyDusty good luck !!

lunar1 · 07/10/2024 21:30

@BigGreyDusty I hope they listen to you.

Third does last night, feel slightly nauseous but nothing compared to last week.

So I took my third .25 dose yesterday and I think I am finally seeing a result. My lovely DS took me out for breakfast and I didn’t fancy anything, I ordered some raisin toast just to keep him company but tbh could have done without it. Not hungry at lunchtime, had a small portion of dinner. Maybe it’s happening 😁 Hope everyone else’s journey is going well.

lunar1 · 09/10/2024 09:18

@Flatandhappy really glad you're seeing results now! It's really odd what it does to your brain isn't it.

I'll definitely need to go up a dose next week.

7kg in 2 weeks is amazing @lulunar1 have you weighed again since then? Did you stick with 0.25mg this week? Glad to hear you haven't had as bad side effects this time

It's strange how it starts immediately for some people, and others it takes building up the doses.
I forgot to take my 2nd dose yesterday, I've been feeling hungry today for the first time, about to inject now. I've lost 4lbs my first week, probably would have been more except the lack of food noise didn't stop me drinking copious amounts of wine at the weekend 😅 hopefully lose the same this coming week!

Caledoniablue · 09/10/2024 17:31

@Flatandhappy that sounds great, must be kicking in for you now! It still surprises me when dh & ds are eating chocolate that I just don't fancy it!

lunar1 · 19/10/2024 14:16

How's everyone doing? Had my 4th injection on Monday where I increased the dose, very minimal side effects, but food literally isn't on my mind at all.

I'm down to 96kg, so that's 11kg lost. I'm so happy I finally got the nerve to start these injections!

@lunar1 I’m pretty much same stage as you. Took my first .5 dose this morning after four weeks of .25 Have lost the grand total of 1.2kg so far. I managed to fill my next prescription yesterday which is good as there still seems to be a shortage here (Aus) and pharmacies won’t fill it if you say it is for weight loss. I just say my liver specialist prescribed it and let them draw their own conclusions. $200 though (about £100) so hope it does something!

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 22/10/2024 03:15

Hi 👋🏻. Can I join in too please? I'm in Aus, and have literally in the last half hour just injected my first dose of 0.25. It was the brand name Wegovy, but it's just semaglutide (ozempic). I'm sitting here nervously waiting to feel nauseous haha because literally everything makes me nauseous (motion sickness, 4X hyperemesis, terrible reaction to chemo etc).

I had no problem with the pharmacy giving me it. Paid $250 but getting $44 back from health fund.

I have lost and gained the same 30ish kgs over the past 10yrs, but just want to get down to 60kgs and stick there. I'm currently sitting at around 75kg.

I'm hoping it drowns out the "wine noise" as I've heard others say as that's probably my biggest downfall.

Flatandhappy · 22/10/2024 04:15

Unfortunately 4x.25 doses have done nothing to drown out my wine noise @WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat which I was really hoping it would. I lost 30kg doing WW five years ago but unfortunately piled it back on with my post cancer “life is too short not to eat the pasta and drink the wine” attitude! Will let you know if the .5 dose makes any difference.

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 22/10/2024 08:51

Thanks @Flatandhappy! That's a shame, I was hoping that the whole "just not even thinking about it" would apply to wine as well as food and snacks.

I have felt the precise sum of zero since my injection today. Haven't really wanted food, but that's not unusual for me during the day.

Have you been succumbing to a glass of wine whilst on it? Has it made you nauseous? Has your loss still been as successful as you hoped? Sorry for all the questions!

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 22/10/2024 08:53

Also, @Flatandhappy, I am also on a post CA journey, combined with being recently widowed in my early forties, peri menopausal and with four kids, so I have had an extremely "fuck it", attitude, which I feel has to stop. That's partly why I've finally bit the bullet with the injections.

Flatandhappy · 23/10/2024 09:31

Oh goodness @WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat you have been through it! I haven’t really lost anything in four weeks, the 1.2kg “loss” could be a normal fluctuation over a few days. It will be interesting to see if the higher dose does anything. Yes, drinking wine happily and unfortunately no nausea (which seems like a pretty weird thing to wish for), I have a glass of red in front of me as I type….

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 24/10/2024 05:43

@Flatandhappy, yeah I know haha, wishing for nausea!! Who'd have thought? I feel like my appetite is mildly suppressed but I also think that could be all in my head. Part of me is worried that I'm gonna spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars and nothing might happen 😩. I'm not really in the position to do that.

I'm very impatient though. So hopefully in time something will happen. When I took saxenda, probably ten years ago, I was instantly nauseous, almost to the point of vomiting, and the weight just fell off me.

tryingtocarpediem · 24/10/2024 23:06

@Flatandhappy I'm still drinking wine too 😬 trying to reduce a bit though. My appetite has reduced a bit but can still manage a normal dinner most nights but at least no second helpings now! I've had no nausea and only a bit of constipation. I've just taken my 4th dose. There was a bit left in it so I did it again. Bit naughty with the same needle I guess. Thinking of changing to mounjaro but I've read conflicting info on when I can start the mounjaro. Some sites say at least a week. Others say 5 weeks!! I really don't want to wait 5 weeks though. Does anyone know for sure?

Flatandhappy · 14/11/2024 23:30

Just wondering how everyone is going. After 8 weeks (last four .5 dosage) I have lost a total of 3 kg and I am really questioning whether the cost is worth it. Are others doing better?

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 15/11/2024 05:39

Hi, I'm about to start my 0.5 next week - so far my appetite has been subdued but not massively and I've lost 1kg. Must admit, I lost far far more on IF. I'm kinda hoping for great things on 0.5 😂. It's very expensive!

Flatandhappy · 27/11/2024 03:49

I saw my GP yesterday as I needed a new prescription, it was originally given by a specialist I see so I wasn’t sure if my GP would support. She thought a 3kg loss was good where I think it’s pretty crap as it is so expensive. She has upped me to 1mg - I will take that for a while but if I don’t see significant loss will probably stop. How is everyone else doing?

lunar1 · 27/11/2024 08:51

93kg now, so a steady loss now which I'm happy with. Started at a size 18-20, and have ordered the next size down jeans whenever the current ones fit.

My size 14 had plenty of breathing room yesterday, so need to order a 12 for in a few weeks, which seems insane considering where I started.
