Thigh or stomach?

I've been injecting in my thigh all this time and get a bruise each time that is still there a week later.

I read today that some people find stomach less prone to bruising and have better suppression...what does everyone here do?

Stomach every time. No problems.

I’m the opposite, bruises on my stomach as well as hives, been fine with my thigh, an occasional bruise but not too bad if I rub the spot as soon as I inject.

MissConductUS · 30/09/2024 19:30

I find the thigh more comfortable and have never had any bruising there.

Thigh gave me a reaction, bruise and redness. Stomach thankfully none of that!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 30/09/2024 20:34

I've switched to my arm and have only had one bruise when I used a syringe for the bonus and went in at an angle.

It's like any subcut injection - no varicose, thread or visible veins, no stretchmarks, nice firm fat over the top of a muscle, press securely, don't thump or dig in and then lift straight up in one smooth movement once done.

Neither give me a bruise, but both incredibly painful compared to other injections.

Injection site makes no difference to suppression/efficacy of the drug - I asked my consultant and he basically laughed at me.

I always inject in my stomach as I have a lot of padding there🙄

doodleschnoodle · 30/09/2024 20:55

Neither have been any issue for me. I barely feel it (but I'm used to self-injecting with much bigger needles!)

Your consultant is simply incorrect. The manufacturer carried out a clinical trial on different injections sites, and they did show significant differences. It is a well known and often referenced trial and it beggars belief that your 'consultant' (of what, exactly?) did not know about it if he/she has anything to do with actually prescribing your treatment.

Anecdotally, some people agree with those findings and others disagree. The important point is that it may be worth changing injection site and seeing what works best, as we are all different in the way we react to this drug.

I've done stomach each time (13 so far) and had absolutely no bruising or any other issues. I've had one instance of unpleasant gastric upset, around week 5, but nothing else. I don't think I could manage to inject into the back of my arm on my own, and I'm unkeen to try injecting into my thigh as there's less flab there on my stomach!

Lampzade · 30/09/2024 22:29

My mother injected in her stomach. She was told that this was the best site for absorption

goodboystepup · 01/10/2024 15:36

Wow, I've just done stomach after 8 weeks of thigh, stomach is much easier and I barely felt it!
