As I get closer to week 5, I wonder about this so good to hear it went well for you. Thanks.

WutheringMights · 01/10/2024 20:54

Same! Turning it initially required slightly more force but no pliers needed. 5 weeks for the price of 4, love it!

LaurieFairyCake · 01/10/2024 20:57

I've never managed to get it out doing that! And I've had 4 pens !

I've had to use diabetic needles to do it

RobinEllacotStrike · 01/10/2024 23:13

I totally broke the first pen I tried the hard twist on. I got "bonus" dose out of the 2nd pen with an insulin needle.

Sadteacher · 02/10/2024 18:47

Any idea where I can buy just a few needles for the hard twist method? I really don’t want a box of a hundred! I practised the hard twist with my first pen, seemed easy. I threw it away though as I wanted to move up to 5!

rainydaysaway · 04/10/2024 07:31

Bumping this - where do i get the needles to put on the pen for the hard twist?

morbidcuriosity · 04/10/2024 08:06

I'm not too sure where you can buy just a few.. but I went into a chemist, think it was Lloyd's and got a box of 100, think they were £8 . I only wanted a few but they said they only sold them in that size box.. so thought why not, you never know you may get dud needles and need more..

rainydaysaway · 04/10/2024 09:04

Thanks @morbidcuriosity do you kno what they’re called? Trying to find them on Lloyd’s website.

I'll look at mine..

Gluvmco Rx .. Fine point ultra, insulin pen needles, 4mm . 32g .

Thank you!

SnacklessWonder · 04/10/2024 10:45

I do it by syringe as I want to know how much dose is in there!

Motnight · 04/10/2024 10:57

Can I ask a silly question about the bonus dose? I have done 4 doses from my pension and the syringe is clearly very near the bottom of the pen. Doesn't that mean that there's nothing left?

No, there's not likely to be nothing at all remaining. If you look at the picture of the bottom pen which is after 4 doses, the amount left is about as much as each dose uses up. You can see by the marker lines on the pen what size a dose is.

I just managed the bonus dose

Maybe you lost quite a bit whilst you were priming ? . It normally sits on the last little bumpy mark and that is more than 0.6ml left..

When I prime it, I just let out a drop or 2 and that's it, just to make sure the needle is working..

Motnight · 04/10/2024 12:10

Thank you both. There's definitely far less left than in the photo. I spotted for my last dose that there seemed to be a bit more of it escaping than normal so perhaps that was it 😕.
