Hi everyone

I noticed on the other threads much of the chat is focused on the actual MJ treatment and thought it would be helpful to have a thread about how we are all trying to get fit as well.

I am a bit worried about when I finish about maintaining the weight loss in a sustainable fashion, and also about any sagging.

So I am on week 4 of 2.5mg and am planning to keep on this dose for another month as I have not had many side effects apart from feeling a bit tired, and then see where I am after 8 weeks.

So far I have lost around 8 lbs by week 3, which isn't as much as many I know but I am happy with so far as I'd really been struggling as I'm in peri-meno and it just felt like the scales were going up no matter what I did.

In terms of exercise, I am doing weights with a PT 3 times a week. My cardio / walking has been non-existent as I have broken my foot and am recovering from that. I am planning to do low impact steady state cardio when I can move around a bit more.

Hopefully we can motivate each other?😊

And any tips from people who have been on the treatment for a longer period, would be appreciated and anyone who is maintaining.

I'll join you. I've just taken my third jab and have lost 6 or 7lbs so far (weigh day tomorrow). I haven't been exercising properly yet - mainly because I don't currently fit into any of my gym gear 😳- but am aiming to start pretty soon. I'm going to do c25k as I have always enjoyed running, alternating with kettle bell workouts. I like Caroline Girvan on YouTube. In the meantime I am trying to walk every day, although I won't be doing that today as there appears to be a monsoon happening outside!

Great idea, and well done on your achievements so far!

I've lost just over 2 stone in 3 months which I'm pleased with but I've been very tired and so have been exercising a lot less, ironically. I used to do a weights workout 2 or 3 times a week that has stopped completely. I want to get back into that now I'm settled into the routine with MJ. I've promised myself I'll do a session this evening. Now I've declared it here I feel more duty bound to actually do it!

I'm really keen to join you on this chat - I've lost weight before so I'm pretty confident i can get to my goal with MJ but I'm desperate to make sure I make permanent changes. Since I last lost weight, I've been so much more consistent with exercise - I got a peloton during lockdown and I tend to do a mix of cycling and strength classes, but never managed to put it together with proper healthy eating.

At the moment, I want to focus on strength / weights as I think it will help with changing shape and building muscle, which I know is important as I'm perimenopausal.

I'm coming up to the end of 4th week on MJ, was dieting for a bit before that and in total have lost about 16 pounds. I'm probably about half way to goal, maybe a little bit more than that to go. This week, I've done a spin class and a weight programme 5 day split - so 5 30 minute weight classes.

Would definitely like to chat about this and stay motivated, I think its so important.

I’m three and a half months in. 2st down.
I have increased my exercise massively in the last few months.
I was swimming once a week: now two when I can. I was walking 30 mins a day: now an hour.
I’m added two weights classes at the gym a week.
I’m loving it. I’ve noticed that I can easily stand up from the floor without touching the ground. I’ve been working on this on and off for a year and have found it hard. Suddenly I can just do it.
I am starting to see muscle definition.

I have am only on week 1 and have had so many side effects I have actually stopped doing my usual classes and swims! Hoping next week will be better and I can get back to it. Swimming, Zumba and weights class and then upping my walking in general is my vague plan. Following for ideas and support.

I’m 6mths in, I’ve lost 22kg and feel fantastic. I do Pilates and I do sprints. I also do some heavy weights. Exercising is almost easy now I’d say!!

@VioletsHeart That's really great re the getting up from the floor. Its a sign of health/fitness isn't it, and I know I can't do it. I'm going to see how long it takes me...

Finally stopped raining here so got out for a nice long lunchtime walk. Trying to do 10k steps a day to increase my fitness slowly and speed up weight loss before braving any strenuous exercise in public shudders
