Wegov y has stopped working!

Has this happened to anyone else? I've lost 3 stone but for the last 6 months I've basically stayed the same, just losing and gaining the same 3 pounds.

I'm on the maximum dose and just maintaining really. I can't keep on it forever due to cost but I'm worried about putting weight on if I stop.

Today I've eaten/ will eat

Greek yoghurt, blueberries, pecan nuts and a teaspoon of seeds

1/4 chicken breast, spinach and mushrooms in coconut broth
Thin slice home made wholemeal bread
Coconut chocolate yoghurt

Fish fillet, carrot baked fries, peas, green beans
Glass of rose
Square of chocolate

That's the same as what I was eating to lose 2lbs a week.

I've got 10lbs to lose to be in the healthy weight range.

Yes, I stalled this year, have switched to Mounjaro now

beguilingeyes · 26/09/2024 16:11

Yep. Lasted about six months for me. I'm just moving up from 1.0 to 1.7 though so I'm hoping that will help.

Nootkah · 29/09/2024 10:34

Our TDEE goes down as we lose weight, so it is likely that what you describe is low enough to lose at a higher weight, but only maintenance at your current weight.

GuestFeatu · 29/09/2024 10:37

Yep, stalled for me after 6 months. I went on Mounjaro and lost some more though slowly. It works less well for some of us I think 🤷🏼‍♀️

InfoSecInTheCity · 29/09/2024 12:54

You need to do a TDEE calculator and calculate the calories on what you've eaten and drank for the day. It's likely that you need to reduce the calories you eat to continue to lose weight. The amount your body uses to maintain weight reduces as you get smaller because it's less hard work for your body to function when you are smaller.

Orangesandlemons77 · 29/09/2024 12:54

Maybe cut out the wine and see?

eeeeeeeee · 29/09/2024 14:32

are you definitely still eating in a deficit with that? Your meals sound lovely but also doesn’t seem like a good baseline for weight loss with the alcohol

I've lost over 3 stone eating that.

Thats the point. What you are/were eating was good for weight loss when you were a higher weight. Now that you're a lower weight, your body needs less to stay the same, so you'll probably need to cut down to lose any more. Do a TDEE expenditure at your old weight and new weight.

I have done that. My current TDE is 1400, I eat around 1000 calories a day.

I think my post wasn't clear- the appetite suppression has stopped working.

Even if the appetite suppression has stopped working, if you are eating under your TDEE, you should be losing weight. Are you sure you're not eating a bit more than you think?

I can't help as Wegovy never worked for me, but I started Mounjaro just over 3 weeks ago and I've already lost 15 pounds - a quarter of what I need to, so maybe a switch to Mounjaro might kickstart things again?

Movinghouseatlast · 01/10/2024 14:18

I don't think they would change it as I'm now not overweight enough to do a new prescription!

Bit depressing that 1000 calories a day and I just stay the same.

Orangesandlemons77 · 03/10/2024 14:40

I suppose you could buy it privately?

You can change. When you do the consultation with Voy they ask what medication you are on. Say 'Wegovy' and you will be able to transition. I don't know how you titrate though. May have to start at the beginning. 2.5mg x 4 weeks, 5mg x 4 weeks, and so on with 2.5 mg increases every 4 weeks.

It's bought privately for most people.

i have 4lb to go... and this 4lb has been hanging around for ages. if i am honest, i'm not as strict with my calories as previously and know i need to knuckle down a bit.. i did consider moving to the other brand but really its not worth the effort

ManchesterMarie · 03/10/2024 19:58

It's stopped working for me too, I'm on my third 2.4 pen and starting to eating more, even binging a few times. I've gained and lost the same 1lb for the last 6 weeks.

I'm waiting to finish this pen and then have a mounjaro pen waiting. Got over a stone to still lose so hoping it works.

i did consider swapping but my BMI is now 29. something and wasn't sure if they would allow me to swap

ManchesterMarie · 03/10/2024 21:27

Yeah my BMI is 29. I'm with med express and had to stay with them but they had no problem with me switching.

I did try zavamed who had a discount code but they cancelled my order after receiving my photos (annoying but I suppose I should be flattered!😂)

i get mine from Boots... i wonder if they will allow me to swap?

Are you exercising much? I’ve had one really lengthy plateau which only broke in the end by taking up spin classes. Upping your protein and water, and cutting back the alcohol and carbs may also help. Basically- change it up and surprise your metabolism.

ive litterally started spinning this week! ive only been on the highest dose for 2 weeks, so maybe it needs to get into my system a bit more.. its annoying as i litterally have 4lbs to get to my target!

Sorry op, that sounds frustrating and disheartening.

Some suggestions:
Check the sugar content of your yogurt. it should be considerably less than 10 per 100g. It would be better to stir a teaspoon of peanut butter into a small bowl of Greek yogurt, but maybe you’re dairy intolerant?
Have a day of restricted eating followed by 2 days of more calories - good choices but much more. That should kickstart your system.
Make your breakfast more protein heavy.
How much baked fries? Watch your carb and if you need the fries - and why not! - move them to breakfast or lunch instead,

The yoghurt is plain Greek yoghurt. I did say Greek in my post. No added sugar. I thought it was meant to be high protein.

One carrot is my fries. They aren't potato fries and they aren't even fried, just baked in the oven...If I've got to cut out a carrot then I really am totally fucked! Even if it were 2 or 3 carrots I can't see that breaking the calorie bank.

I was referring to your lunch time yogurt.
If your fries are carrot I would up your chicken. And try what I suggested. it’s a well researched strategy, Weight loss always stalls at some point. Congrats on your 3 stone!
