Is 9 hours after first injection too soon to expect to feel any different?

When did appetite suppression or dulled food noise kick in after your first 2.5mg injection? I had my first dose 9 hours ago and feel normal. I know that it affects people in different ways and people respond differently to the different doses, but if I feel nothing after 9 hours, does that mean this first injection likely won't have much impact?

I’m 2 months in now and still waiting!!

PermanentTemporary · 23/09/2024 19:27

Day 1. Which I think must have been psychological/placebo.

I still have to fight the urge. It's just a couple of times easier to win the fight.

HelloMiffy · 23/09/2024 22:00

Good god woman! Hold fire! No it doesn't mean it won't work, it just means that it's been 9 hours. Honestly, give it a few days and you'll be feeling something I'm sure
Don't worry for now

SilenceInside · 23/09/2024 22:04

It apparently can take between 8 and 72 hours for the drug to reach peak levels in your system. But I guess some people or could be quicker and others slower. And having the peak level of 2.5mg for many people isn't enough to have noticeable effects. It can take the full 4 weeks and then the first 5mg dose before the effects are noticeable.

The amount in your system builds with each injection too, as you're not starting from zero each time.

Thanks for the replies. I'll stay positive and (try!) to be patient! Probably watched too many ‘magic’ Mounjaro videos where people have given amazing accounts of how it's transformed their lives overnight! Need to stay realistic!

Most of the raving reviews only mentioning positives are from people who want you to use their discount codes! Quite a few people copy and paste the same messages over and over just to promote their discount code! The longer I am here the more I see it. I am finishing my second 2,5 mounjaro pen and I am glad I ordered 5mg this time as the suppression started to wear off much sooner recently. I am still available to resist food most of the time but I started thinking about it much more. It could be because I am due my period and a bit stressed out recently 🙃 😅. I have lost 10 kg already which is great but I am also making sure that I choose the right food, eat 3 times a day and drink around 2l of water. Hopefully you'll soon start feeling the effects of it wo

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 24/09/2024 01:07

I think it took about 4 days for me to feel anything. I didn't feel proper suppression until I was on the 10mg pen though. I've lost over 5st so it was worth persevering.

raspberrymeringue · 24/09/2024 13:47

I got suppression very quickly ( first day) but then with my second injection, plus the remains of the first one, it was too much and made me quite ill with bad sides. However I think this level of sensitivity is fairly uncommon. Just give it time, 5mg is considered the therapeutic dose so you might have to wait until you can start that.

Hia, how are you today? Feeling any different?

GreenGrass28 · 24/09/2024 21:05

@Lola3034 not feeling wildly different. Thirsty is probably the main thing. Have maybe been a bit less preoccupied with food, but I've also had a busy day so could be that. Have been hungry still and not getting full any quicker. I've eaten healthily though, which I was resolved to do anyway. So am just going to plod on and see how I go!

I was feeling very thirsty too. That and a smelly breath in the morning 😅. Hopefully it will work out OK for you. In a worst case, try to survive the first month and the up the dose

lespameo · 25/09/2024 19:29

I took my first dose on tues AM and still feel totally normal but I've made a conscious effort to drink more water and not snack on crap. Had some side effects like headaches and achy neck/shoulders but still want to eat crap!

GreenGrass28 · 25/09/2024 20:15

Today I had another very busy work day and had a couple of cups or coffee but didn't end up eating until til 3.30pm. I got excited, thinking maybe it's working! But after I ate, I felt hungry again quite quickly after and had a normal size dinner, no super full feeling after. 🤷‍♀️

It impacts people differently. I inject in a Tuesday and my suppression seems to slowly build then peaks on Saturday. Then slowly reduces until I inject again.

Theres nothing wrong with a normal size dinner if you haven’t eaten much during the day. Which it sounds like you didn’t.

Lots of people don’t respond on 2.5 at all. But it does sound like you are having effects if you are forgetting to eat. Have 2 meals a day, assuming that’s all you had, is entirely normal eating. The aim isn’t to eat as little as possible.

Makelikeatreeandleaf · 26/09/2024 06:14

I felt the effects almost immediately and do after every jab - within an hour typically. However, the jab itself (as I understand it) is not magically making you lose weight. I have very little appetite but I'm not losing masses of weight, although at no point in my life has that been easy for me. The thing it has done in abundance is calm my mind, chill me out a bit, stop the food noise and reduce my emotional eating.

cakewench · 26/09/2024 08:20

Mine happened within hours, however I appear to be one of these super responders to the injections. I know it wasn't psychological either because I had effects I didn't even know could happen (completely calm mind, desperate thirst) as well.

Our bodies all respond differently and at different speeds. Some people need to go to much higher levels of MJ in their systems before it works, and tbh that's what the company prepares you for. Their schedule of injections is based on their tests on a wide group of people, and the initial dose isn't considered to be therapeutic.
