Mounjaro side effects

I was wondering what side effects people have had on Mounjaro?

I’ve been on it since April and when I started I suffered quite badly with side effects, couldn’t really explain what was wrong but always felt a bit ill, rundown and lethargic with no energy. At the time I also had a cold and couldn’t work out whether I was actually ill or it was because of the injections.

After about 8 weeks they just subsided and I felt back to my normal self just without the food noise and cravings.

i worked my way up to 10mg and have been on that since the beginning of July and all was fine.

However I went on holiday last month so was late taking my 10mg injection by 3 days (the guidance shows anything over 4 days and you have to start back down at 2.5mg). I also unfortunately caught Covid 2 days after getting back 🙈

Since then I have been really struggling with side effects again, I feel awful, still have my cough, headachy most days, lethargic, run down just feeling crap and last night was up with a bad stomach. It’s been almost 3 weeks now so I should be over Covid.

im thinking that because I took my injection 3 days late after holiday the side effects have come back and that maybe I need to drop down to 7.5mg again (or have a break completely!)

had anyone else experienced anything like this? Any advice?

I had what I'm pretty sure was covid back in April (I never tested positive but everyone around me who also got sick tested positive) and it took me literal months to stop coughing, and get back to normal in terms of energy levels and not feeling run down. So 3 weeks isn't that long to be still sick let alone recovering, if you were hit hard, and if you still have your cough it sounds like it's still covid and not MJ side effects.

That being said, I'd go back to basics in terms of taking care of yourself - setting aside the MJ, you're convalescing from what is still an absolute stinker of a virus so:

  • are you drinking enough water (for the headaches)
  • are you eating enough fibre and variety of plants (for your stomach) - add fermented foods and live yoghurt perhaps
  • are you eating enough full stop - maybe track on My Fitness Pal or similar to make sure you're hitting goals for protein, fibre, calories

Really hope you feel better soon! Flowers

Sounds more like you're suffering with Covid rather than it being down to MJ side effects. 3 weeks is nothing for Covid. Make sure you rest as much as you can.

Thanks guys - I will stick with it for a couple more weeks and assume it is the after effects of covid for now. Hopefully I will start to feel better soon!

Just to put your mind at rest re the late dose after 3-4 days, the leaflet that comes with the pen actually says this:

If a dose is missed, instruct patients to administer MOUNJARO as soon as possible within 4 days (96 hours) after the
missed dose. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and administer the next dose on the regularly
scheduled day. In each case, patients can then resume their regular once weekly dosing schedule.

No please note that it does NOT say you have to start on 2.5mg again if you miss a few days. It just suggests that if you are more than 4 days late, then you can miss the dose entirely and carry on as before on your next normal dose day.

I also had Covid whilst taking Mounjaro, and what I most noticed (apart from feeling crap of course!) was that I had no appetite suppression at all for a few days, even though I wasn't feeling at all well or like actually eating. Covid really affected my blood sugar levels somehow.

I'm now on week 3 of 2.5mg Mounjaro and not sure if others are experiencing the same (looking at posts, some have similar) but for the last week I've had really bad stomach cramps as well as constipation (haven't 'gone' for a week)
I can't eat first thing in the morning and I'm also pretty lethargic too.
This has just kicked in on week 3.
Anyone had similar?

For me Covid always bloody lasts more than 3 weeks.
