Feeling ill after 1st MJ dose

I took my first 2.5mg Mounjaro dose at lunchtime yesterday and I feel terrible. Nausea, really smelly burps, diarrhoea, bloating and stomach pain. I'm not even sure why I'm posting, just for a little reassurance I suppose. Please tell me this will pass

I'm on my second dose and not felt anything apart from a little bloating.

Dutchhouse14 · 04/09/2024 21:17

Just bumping for you.
I'm considering mounjarobut but am worried about side effects.
I hope you feel better soon

TreadLightly3 · 04/09/2024 21:19

@YoureMyWifeNowDave it will pass, honestly. One day you soon you will wake up feeling normal again.

i started a thread here called Diarroea and Mounjaro and there’s stories from a few of us who have had some bad side effects but they’ve passed xx

EsotericMnemonic · 04/09/2024 21:20

Hi @YoureMyWifeNowDave 6 months into taking Mounjaro now and still remember how awful I felt after that first dose. Yes, it will pass. For now, try to drink what water you can (sips, don’t drink lots at once, it may make your nausea worse). Try to eat small amounts regularly, it’s ok at this point if you just eat bland foods, I remember cream crackers being my go to nausea food. Avoid large meals and anything greasy. I’d also recommend that you start tracking your jab and symptoms. Where did you inject? When? This will help you to see patterns, eg do you experience more symptoms if you inject in your stomach or thigh? Are your worst symptoms the next day or 48 hours after injecting? Once you know these things, you can plan more, eg only injecting in your thigh if that results in fewer side effects. Just know for now you will feel better! Take care.

I’ve just taken my first dose and now I’m worried!

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 05/09/2024 21:46

Finally starting to feel less bloated, still burping the most disgusting eggy burps ever.
Im not sure if I will carry on with mounjaro after how bad I’ve felt, it’s been really difficult to sort out the kids and dog this last couple of days

I felt similar however it all settled, took omeprazole and drank peppermint tea plenty of fluids and made sure I ate still. Finishing first week and feel fine now. Second dose tomorrow. I felt like you too, wasn’t sure if I could continue

SilverSparklyStar · 05/09/2024 21:56

Omeprazole will stop the sulphur burps. Get some peppermint oil capsules from Holland and Barrett or similar. They really help.

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 06/09/2024 11:09

Bloating, pain and diarrhoea is back this morning. I’ve decided that I won’t do my second jab on Tuesday as I have to take my eldest on a 6 hour round trip next Friday, there’s no way I could manage that at the moment! I may inject the following week and try in my thigh rather than in my stomach to see if that helps lessen the side effects.

I felt absolutely horrendous after my first dose but felt much better towards the end of the week. My second dose made me feel a bit rubbish for a few days and now I'm due my third dose. I'm hoping this one, I'll be fine!

90yomakeuproom · 06/09/2024 21:33

When I up the dose every 4 weeks I feel like this 😞

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 17/09/2024 21:25

Have taken my 2nd dose today, injected into my thigh this time, hoping for an easier time than after the first injection.

I remember feeling awful after my first dose. I took it on a Friday and it wiped me out for the weekend. I didn't have diarrhoea but flu like symptoms - visibly shivering with cold and really exhausted.

I used to put my thick padded ski jacket on first thing in the morning and didn't take it off until I went to bed! That went on for weeks!

Every dose has had less and less side effects. I've been on these for 4 1/2 months and nearly 4 stone loss. My BMI is now 23 😎

Keep going - you'll get there!

Catsservant · 06/10/2024 15:10

How do you feel now 4 weeks on are you still on a lower dose

Hi, I’m still on 2.5mg, got my bonus dose to do at the beginning of next week. The side effects have got a bit easier to deal with, still have the diarrhoea on and off but the painful bloating and burping has lessened. I’ve been taking peppermint oil capsules which I think have helped.
