For those who have done their bonus dose can you just get the standard dose out with a hard twist or can you get all the surplus out?

@WorriedRelative i did mine today for the first time and had to pull and tug quite a bit to get the clicks moving:

search bonus dose of mounjaro on YouTube for videos - I almost gave up but kept going until the plunger went down - the video helps a lot to see what to look for!

I've just started 10mg. I'm still struggling with feelings of nausea and the insomnia is a killer. I'm 2 stone down which seems so slow. I've another 2/2.5 stone to go but not sure if I can afford to keep going or the tiredness

How are you in 10 already id tou started in August

1AnotherOne · 01/09/2024 08:58

did anyone get a runny nose when you first started? Trying to work out if it’s mounjaro or a bug. Felt really hot this morning too.

AdeloreSmore · 01/09/2024 09:01

Well I'm wk 3 / day 4 and still really motivated. Nothing showing on the scales this week as yet but I have lost inches (1.5 inches from Thigh!) Have ordered 5mg pen as Pharmacy 2u sent a £40 off with a 31/08 expiry so I ordered early to stick in the fridge!
10lb off so far. Loving the food, and the dog is enjoying the longer walks - oh & I have ankles again!!
Less suppression but that's fine as I need to be able to do this post MJ.
A very long way to go, so I will try and bottle this positivity for another time 😀

poppym12 · 01/09/2024 09:10

I'll be doing injection 4 today. I'm 12lb down so far. I'd love to get to the magical 1st stone off by the end of week 4 but I can't see it happening as I'm so hungry. I haven't eat any crap but I have had to go over 1200 calories a couple of days to stop feeling sick and shaky.

I usually jab Sunday night in case I felt sick but I've been fine so I think I'm going to do the 4th injection now.

ChunkyMunky · 01/09/2024 09:12

Ate out last night and thought I’d done quite well: no starter, no desert, no alcohol, smallest / lightest main meal option. Ate so much less than I would have before and was full.

Awful diarrhoea again through the night and this morning though. Struggling now, feeling like my options are becoming quite limited by what my body can tolerate on MJ. Feeling a bit low as a result; I want to be in this for the long haul, but I can’t spend 2 or 3 days out of each week on the toilet.

Mumof381 · 01/09/2024 09:42

Morning! May I join? Started MJ 11 days ago and I've lost 6ibs. Very happy with that.

I've had some side effects, but not the usual ones. I've struggled with an increase in anxiety and insomnia. Both have always been problematic for me and I am on medication, but for a few days after both injections symptoms increased a lot. I'm determined to push through though, as the appetite suppression has been excellent. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm eating a well balanced diet, sticking to a maximum of 1300 calories a day. I'm keeping active too, getting 10k steps per day.

My 5mg pen is due to arrive today. I've about 4 stones to lose, and for the first time ever, it feels do-able!

I believe the Mounjaro will help us lose weight but we will always have a lifelong battle with our weight to some extent. I don’t know if it will help but from day 1 of my jab I’ve practiced saying no and listening to my body but the biggest thing I do is repeat often throughout the day - it’s ok to be feeling hungry, even the slimmest of people feel hungry, it’s normal and you do not have to constantly react to it. It’s something I read on a thread here 6 months ago and it’s the best advice I’ve ever heard. I’m really positive about the future but I prepared to be saying it till the day I die.

Remember months of smaller portions will have an effect on your stomach…….it will shrink and you will still feel the effects of overeating post Mounjaro xxx

Velondra · 01/09/2024 10:05

4 days post first dose and woke up with what I can only describe as period cramps it was low down and bearable but woke me up, woke up again later and it was gone but after eating small breakfast I feel really nauseous, is this normal to feel sick after eating?

Pinkjenny · 01/09/2024 10:16

I did my second jab yesterday and side effects are much the same as last week. I feel a little bit achy and tired, but I never know whether I am just searching for symptoms or not.

Going to take my fibre supplements this week, I definitely don't want to be relying on a laxative before I weigh in.

We ate out on Friday, I had one vodka soda lime and tuna nicoise with new potatoes, I couldn't finish it but I felt absolutely fine afterwards.

Week 2 though and I'm having to bat away a lot of pressure from dh who loves being out and drinking and eating too much. I told him before I started this to just give me a month of focusing on my weight loss, so I just keep reminding him of that. Hopefully when he sees it start to come off, he'll stay on board. I don't want to turn into a big killjoy.

Wingingit11 · 01/09/2024 10:44

Eurgh I feel exhausted today and yday after taking about 3mg bonus dose. Makes me feel a bit worried about moving up next week

Take loperamide!
You can get 48 of them on Amazon for £5.

They're generic Imodium. Take 2 at the onset of the diarrhoea and another one every time you have a loose motion.

Oh yes! I am too old for periods but the pain I had was severe and very low down on groin area that was also day 4 of first pen, at the time I put it down to eating more than I been doing as I was super cautious.
have NOT had same since so hopefully same for you. Good luck with your journey.

Hi All, reading all your comments makes me feel optimistic …
jab 3 due today
heres hoping for some effect
as nothing so far

lookathatbookcase · 01/09/2024 11:13

day 2 of moving up to 3.75 - feeling like ass, headache / tiredness / wobbly tummy, but remember that this was also what it felt like at the start of 2.5 so hopefully will pass. have had electrolytes, a clear whey drink, a banana and a coffee to make sure I'm still good for intake.

Wingingit11 · 01/09/2024 11:15

@lookathatbookcase good shout about electrolytes I might try that! Feel like jab 1 2.5 hangover !

The first month is to get your body used to the MJ.
5mg is the first treatment dose, so don't worry.
You'll see a difference soon, I'm sure of it.

ChunkyMunky · 01/09/2024 11:48

Thanks @TheShellBeach I have been taking loperamide but didn’t think to order it from Amazon. Tesco will only sell 2 boxes (6 in each) at a time and I’m going through them like smarties at the moment, so a big box from Amazon is definitely a good idea.

On the plus side, I’ve just done ‘the big shop’. Bought so much less rubbish than usual, skipped whole sections. Well stocked up on meat and veg now, and glad to see the food bill going down to offset the price of the jabs.

I watched a video and that showed them turning to one and injecting, but I understand there is normally a bit more than a standard dose available.

And that's why you need 1ml syringes and needles.

And that's why you need 1ml syringes and needles.

But turning it to 1 will still be 2.5ml however much is left - if there’s more than that it would just stay in the pen wouldn’t it?

Here is a very easy way to make your own electrolyte drinks by Dr Rupy Auijla aka Doctors Kitchen. Taken from his instagram.

"Save money on electrolyte drinks and try this simple homemade recipe instead! 🍋
There are plenty of brands out there selling electrolyte drinks and powders, many of which can be quite pricey 😅 My go-to electrolyte drink is easy to make, and you probably already have the ingredients in your kitchen! 🙌

Ingredients:
💧 Filtered Water
🍋 Lemon
🧂 Sea salt
🍯 Honey

Send this to someone who spends 💰 on electrolyte powders! 💌"

Yes, I'm a nurse.
I buy Equate motion sickness tablets from Ebay.

They contain dimenhydrinate 50mg. I take one or two for nausea. They're about £15 for a hundred tablets.

Cyclizine are very good, but more expensive, and you need a dispensing pharmacy to get them.
