So a bit of a strange one....maybe. I'm on injection number 2 of 2.5mg. I've found food noise has completely stopped or significantly reduced....but also....ALL noise! I'm a creative person and frequently have inspiration throughout the day to write etc but since starting the injections...nothing!!! I also have no depression, anxiety, over thinking etc. Now as someone who has suffered with depression, anxiety and probably undiagnosed ADHD my whole life, this is a welcome break...but also very quiet in there! 🙈 Anyone else?

I have noticed lots of changes like this, but also, I was a very emotional person, cry at the news kind of person - I got told yesterday my uncle had died and nothing, I would normally be overcome with emotion and cry - a lot - then rethink it, think about my aunt and cousins and become more upset, but genuinely not a tear, has anyone else had this? I am also less tolerant of crap I would normally have just gone along with

Aww sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you’re okay?

I’m not sure if that’s related to MJ, but it’s an interesting side effect if so. Personally I wouldn’t mind a dampening effect on “all noise”. I’m going through stress at work after reporting my disgusting line manager and I’m every bit as stressed.

Thank you!

I genuinely thought here it comes, floodgates, and then nothing. I would not have been able to tell my DH without breaking down before and I just walked in and came out with it, again nothing - this is so not like me, and he noticed

MargoLivebetter · 06/09/2024 14:08

Interesting @CheekySwan. I've felt a bit edgy since starting but put that down to not quite knowing what to do without all the food noise. Could be a bit of a mood change though, not sure.

My sense of taste is very definitely altered. DS was saying how spicy the chicken breasts were the other day and I am very lightweight when it comes to spice and I hadn't noticed at all. For the first 3 days post jab food tastes pretty disgusting and that slowly fades until it tastes just about normal again when I'm ready to do the next jab.

I can't watch all the cookery Instas and TikToks that I used to love as they now turn my stomach. Very weird.

Still incredibly strong suppression and zero hunger just over half way through week 3.

Lots of great weight losses and loose clothes reports coming in. Go team August!

TheShellBeach · 06/09/2024 14:09

@CheekySwan I'm so sorry to hear that your uncle has died.

FlappingMadly · 06/09/2024 14:25

@CheekySwan so sorry for your loss. Give yourself space to grieve.

OMG yes! I also feel a bit dead inside. I'm a writer and haven't been able to work on my book since taking MJ. There are no words in my head! And I have deadlines. 🙈

Edited to add: Alot of my writing is very emotions based, and I just have no emotions right now! 🤷‍♀️

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/09/2024 14:32

Aww well done! You must be pleased with those results!

troppibambini6 · 06/09/2024 16:06

@CheekySwan so sorry for your loss.

Well done to all the losers!

I did my second 5mg last night and weighed in

First 4 weeks I lost 6lb but was abroad for 3 of those so more than happy with that.
This week I lost 4 and I'm delighted!

Starting weight 13:12
Current weight 13:2

Goal this week is to get into the 12's

I am hoping to get into a lovely coat which I bought (rather optimistically) during the pandemic, and which has never fitted me.

I am usually amazingly good at throwing things away - or rather, sending them to charity shops - but I've always secretly been broken-hearted that this particular coat never fitted, and it has remained in my wardrobe.

It was in 2019 that I had my last successful weight loss - done by the tedious method of eating less and moving around more - but as we all know, we all ended up by March 2020 stuck in the house, and I couldn't keep the diet up.

I also gave up smoking in November 2019, and that didn't help me not to eat.

And on top of that, I was prescribed gabapentin for pain, which is well-known to increase the appetite.

Oh well - the blue coat SHALL be worn. At some point.

Grin

God luck getting into the 12s, @troppibambini6

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/09/2024 16:41

@TheShellBeach look forward to a pic in that blue coat !!

Has anyone else noticed a heightened sense of smell on MJ?

Yes! The last time I was able to smell like this I was pregnant!

WitchDancer · 06/09/2024 16:51

@TheShellBeach I've got a pair of shorts for the same reason! I've got about 3 stone to go before I'll be able to get into them though Blush. I look forward to the day when you can get into your coat and I'll get into those shorts.

Just as an aside, I came off gabapentin because of the weight gain. I just felt the side effects weren't worth the reduction in fibromyalgia symptoms, so I manage it through lifestyle instead now.

MissFancyDay · 06/09/2024 16:55

Well after all the hand wringing about the 5th dose I have now injected my first 5mg and I am quite relieved.

I intended to use the 5th in the 2.5, primed it and started twisting. it got stuck about halfway through and I forced it round to the 1 dose mark. It just didn't look right, the bits in the middle had separated, so I abandoned it. End of next month I will use a syringe.

I think I am just too risk averse 😅

I feel good on the 5mg so far but early days, I'm a bit burpy already.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/09/2024 16:58

I will see if wake up for a wee every 1/2 hrs as I usually do after a jab for 3/4 nights

I've just dug a lovely Ghost shirt out of my wardrobe that I haven't worn in about 15 years. At the moment there is about an 8 inch gap between the two front pieces where it won't close. I shall try it on occasionally.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/09/2024 17:30

It's good to have something you want to get into

I have a lovely pair of black trousers - but prob need to lose 4st to get into them so once I had bmi to 25 I might fit them

I was looking and bmi of 20 would make me look like a skeleton at 10st. That's impossible for me

FlappingMadly · 06/09/2024 17:41

Given all the loose coat comments I thought I’d give my v expensive waterproof a go. It does up without having to pull it up to get the zip and then tug down which is progress! But a long way to go before it’s loose. Way to go ladies! All the losses are fab.

I have a whole wardrobe of beautiful clothes that I can’t get into and haven’t been able to for many years. I kept trotting out that old chestnut “I’ll diet into them one day”. I’ve only just done my second jab but for the first time in decades I’m actually feeling like I can do this.

Ha! I thought I'd try my size 16 jeans, just to see........

It's only been two weeks since I got into the 18s.

Anyway, I could get into them! They were tight and uncomfortable, but I got them up my legs (to my surprise).

Next target is to get into them properly.

A few years back when my normal weight put me at about BMI 24, I got a horrific gastro bug and went down to 20 in a couple of weeks. I looked gaunt and unhealthy for weeks - dh didn't recognise me in pictures. It's so important to keep track of your own healthy range.

Technically I could weigh 7 stone something and be in the healthy range but I'd look permanently ill at that weight. Spent years thinking that was what I should weigh and feeling bad that I was a (still healthy) 9 and a bit stone. Bridget Jones and other 90s gems have a lot to answer for!!

poppym12 · 06/09/2024 19:28

Around early spring I decided that I was going to make more effort with my clothes and wear nicer stuff even tho I'm at least 3 sizes bigger than where I feel comfortable.

So I splashed out on good quality, well fitting clothes and finally got rid of most things that no longer fit. Lots of them.

Aaaannd now I've started mounjaro. 4 weeks in and a stone down, I'm not sure any of the new stuff will be wearable by next spring so that's a waste of money Blush. Charity shops will be doing ok I suppose.
