Feeling worse and worse on Wegovy

I have been on Wegovy for 8 months and have lost 3 stone. I’d still like to lose another 2 but I’m not sure how much more of the side effects I can handle. I was on 1.7 which was making me feel awful, sick, dizzy, exhausted, headachey etc. so I’ve come back down to 1mg and I still feel just as awful. I want to lose weight but I feel so crap all the time I’m not sure it’s worth it any more. Has anyone else experienced the same and can offer advice? Should I try 0.5 again? It seems to low, I was on that back in feb/march time.

Well done on losing 3 stone. Those side effects sound bad and I'd ask is it worth it ? Yes you have more to lose but you've already lost a bunch so could you try stepping down?
I haven't used it so please feel free to ignore

I did. I gave up. I get a bit tired of the 'wonder drug' posts and media articles, it comes with some horrendous side effects, some of which you can be left with after coming off it.

I just feel so rubbish all the time. I work full time and have 2 young children to look after, I’m finding it hard to cope. I’m wondering if the effects are cumulative and I’ve been on the medication for 8 months now that it’s built up and up and my body needs a break.

I lost 3 stone and gave up. Couldn’t bear to feel how I’d been feeling, it was ruining my life (to a point, but I am dramatic!)

I have now gained some of it back, tempting at times to go back on it but instead going to focus on low carb and calorie counting instead

Havanawinter · 28/08/2024 18:05

@Canyoudigityesyoucan that’s how I’m feeling too, I’m scared of regaining but I feel like I’m just surviving right now, I can’t remember the last time I didn’t feel sick all day and need at least one nap. I’ve decided to give it up and focus on sticking to small portion sizes and keeping up my 10k steps a day. It feels like the real test starts now.

Would it be worth giving yourself a break from it for a bit and then trying Mounjaro?

Striving4Better · 28/08/2024 21:16

If you've just got back down to 1mg, you will still have previous doses in your system so that might explain why you're still feeling rubbish.

However, you sound like you're having a miserable time. If I were you, I would probably stop and keep the pen(s) in the fridge. Take a break and see how you feel. Maybe you'll be able to go back with renewed enthusiasm after a while. Maybe you won't want to go back. Or you could try MJ after a break, as suggested.

I’ve been on it for 18 months now, and looking back, I don’t know how I made it through the first six months. The side effects were outrageous. I remember that on at least two occasions I gave myself a week off, because I couldn’t deal with spending a holiday week feeling nauseous. Here are a few things that I found helped me: omeprazole, electrolyte sports drinks and eating tiny amounts. I couldn’t eat anything carby at all - rice in particular would make me throw up. Be careful that you don’t become dehydrated. I have no side effects at all now.

MikiSu · 28/08/2024 21:46

Have you tried splitting the doses, say 0.5 two times a week instead of 1mg weekly? That's what I did when I was struggling with the side effects, after a couple of weeks I'd then be back on track

notatinydancer · 29/08/2024 09:48

Same , just have one dose left 🤢
Haven't even gone up to 1.7mg can't face it.

Havanawinter · 29/08/2024 21:27

Thanks all, I appreciate the replies and solidarity! Annoyingly it’s the kind of nausea that’s like morning sickness where the only thing that makes me feel better is nibbling constantly. Kind of defeats the point of the whole thing I think? Anyway I’ve decided to take a bit of time off and maybe dip my toe back in with counting clicks at a very low dose to use up the remainder in a couple of weeks.
