Constipation on Mounjaro

Daisypod · 24/08/2024 10:19

I've been on it since April but it's only recently that I've experienced constipation. I'm able to go a bit each day but I'm feeling really backed up. Is there anything I can buy at Boots to help shift it asap as I'm so uncomfortable!

I used sennakot which helped, also dried fruit and fibre obviously 🙄

didn’t want to rely on sennakot as I feel it can upset my natural rhythm

Daisypod · 24/08/2024 11:12

Yes I've been trying dry fruit and fibre, just need something else now 😞 thanks for the recommendation

Flaxseed

CesarSoubreyon · 24/08/2024 12:22

A strong cup of coffee always works for me.

Sunshineandrainbow · 24/08/2024 13:12

Try senna as a first option.

Lots of people find aloe Vera tablets help keep regular.

Ineffable23 · 24/08/2024 13:14

Senna shouldn't be used long term.

Fybogel doesn't cause long term problems and isn't too dreadful. Prune juice may also help.

Fedupandstressed · 24/08/2024 15:13

I take Senna for a few days and if that doesn't work, then Psyllium husk usually gets things moving.

I would first look at the amount you are eating, if very little is going in there will only be very little to actually come out! Also are you drinking and walking enough?

sixminusone · 24/08/2024 15:22

You can get a suppository that instantly helps

It's not a case of smaller going in and therefore smaller coming out, Im definitely bunged up 😳
Drinking lots of water and walking way more than I used to.
Anyway I went to the pharmacy before many of the replies and they suggested dulcolax so I've had some of that, fingers crossed. I'm due to go out tonight and I'm hoping something shifts before then as I feel really uncomfortable 😣

I’m the same. I eat prunes and have a fybogel sachet morning and evening. But it’s still a bit uncertain.

Ruthietuthie · 24/08/2024 16:07

A magnesium citrate supplement helped for me.

Have you taken the ducolax, it can be pretty hideous stuff....

I have @Sunshineandrainbow , I took some yesterday afternoon as I couldn't wait until the evening (pharmacist said this was fine) and then another dose this morning. Nothings happened yet 🤷‍♀️
To be fair a lot of people on that thread say it works well for them so I'll put up with a bit of discomfort short term to sort this out.
