I’m 35, 5ft 3 and currently weigh around 14.5 stone 😫

My happy weight is around 10 stone which is still technically slightly overweight according to BMI but I’ve never been able to get lower than this and sees me at a size 10/12. I’ve been a yo-yo dieter since uni but this time I’m completely unable to get control of my eating. I’ve gained 4.5 stone in 3 years and am wearing loose shirts to hide myself, all my beautiful size 10/12 dresses have been packed alway and feel so incredibly out of reach.

Would injections help me reset my relationship with food? I’m stuck, and feel like I’m at the bottom of an unclimbable mountain.

I’m too embarrassed to face a weight loss group or use a PT. Has anyone been in a similar situation or size and can share their experiences?

thank you ☺️

I’ve started this week. I’ve always been unhappy with my weight and as it’s the school holidays am constantly grazing but it has literally stopped me thinking about food.i thought the suppression had kicked in in the first day and I’ve struggling to eat more than 700 cals a day but this morning it has properly kicked in. I made some healthy breakfast muffins and could t finish it! I’ve even been to IKEA and didn’t even think about the hotdogs! Whereas usually I’d wolf down two! I’ve not had any of the side effects mentioned by some.

I have binge eating tendencies and think I’m also a bit of a sensory eater. I hate feeling out of control.
Mounjaro is helping me, but like most people there are side effects. They’re not toooo bad and it’s worth it for me but it is quite hard core.

if you haven’t tried Biwi’s low carb boot camp on Mumsnet I would recommend giving that a go first. I find it hard to stick to long term but when I’ve done it in the past I have felt in control of my eating and have lost weight with relative ease without feeling deprived.

I’m very similar height and weight as you op, I’m 45 no thyroid and I just cannot lose, money wise i might need to wait but wasn’t sure how much it goes up per mg of meds? Also side effects etc I feel it’s worth trying as I struggle with my knees due to weight too

I found this group very useful

Yes!!! It will. It will do exactly this. If you use it as a tool, and work in tandem on developing healthier habits (food / exercise-wise), it will be the best thing you’ll do for yourself.

I started out 12 weeks ago, at 16 st 12.5 (I’m 33, 5’7) and right now I’m sitting at 14 st 1.5. I’m only halfway through my journey but like you, it felt impossible.

Mounjaro silences the food noise, curbs the cravings and suppresses the appetite. You naturally will start prioritizing and gravitating towards healthier options, and the exercise/PT will come as soon as you are a few lbs lighter and more confident in yourself.

I honestly can’t recommend it enough, it’s not magic, but gosh, it sure feels like it!!

FlappyFish · 17/08/2024 19:13

I think it would. I’ve been on MJ for 6 months and am titrating off of it now.

I am 5’7. I’ve gone from 14.3 to 9.11 and a BMI of 31 to 21.

I have started exercise now. It has been a miracle. I see it as an investment in me.

Best wishes.

Absolutely, I've been ion it since end of March. Really helps you get your mind reset. Weight loss been steady and really changing way I look at food. It's like magic, best decision I have ever made

BatFaceGrrrll · 17/08/2024 21:11

Yep, they'll help you

I started in April. I weighed similar to you - 14 stone 12 lbs - and I'm 5'ft 3'ish

I'm now 10 stone 9 and getting closer to my target weight. So start now and you could potentially be over 4 stone lighter in a matter of months

Another one to say a resounding yes it can help!
I'm 5'3, down from 14st to just under 11st and totally reinventing my relationship with food. The freedom from not being food obsessed is incredible. I can make good choices and can't face a lot of the foods I would have binged on before. It's been a revelation.
I still have another stone or two to go, but I will get there and I've no doubts about it. I don't need willpower, just keeping on keeping on, and feeling better and better in myself every day.

CheekySwan · 19/08/2024 10:57

i'm 5'3", started at 12.8st, 2 weeks in and lost 8lb, it has really curbed my appetite, I have to remind myself to eat, and when I eat its now lighter meals, if I eat something heavy, I can't eat much of it. My alcohol consumption has gone right down, takes me about 3 hours to drink a glass of wine, and to be honest that was to be sociable, i just don't fancy it anymore

Thank you all so much, I am ordering now!
