I was always a bit chunkier than friends at school, and have gained steadily throughout adulthood. I’m now at 17st 7lbs and alternate between ignoring the problem and feeling disgusted with myself. My most recent photos are heartbreaking, I don’t recognise myself anymore. So I’m taking the plunge.

I had considered surgery, but I just cannot afford it. To be honest, the cost of the injections is a worry, but I’ve cut back on other spending and I’m pinning my hopes on this after reading so many positive things. I’ve ordered from Zava, using a discount code on the referral thread (thanks mumsnet!), submitted my pictures, received my approval, and the package arrived this morning.

I’m planning on taking my first dose tonight, but feeling a bit nervous. I don’t mind needles when they’re administered by nurses etc, but I’ve never had the responsibility of jabbing myself. Anyone else worried about this? I’m hoping I’ll stop stressing once I’ve done it for the first time.

happy to share my Zava referral code if it helps anyone - I’ve added it to the referrals thread too

My first dose is tomorrow morning too. How did it go?

Welcome, do join the July/Aug threads, you will find lots of support.

injection is very easy and painless, the needle is tiny.

i worried about it, but they send really clear instructions as well 👍

It was ok. The instructions have pictures which is helpful.

I was getting a bit concerned as I was turning the end as I was expecting 1 to be a lot closer to 0, but I found it after a few twists.

Didn’t hurt to inject, and no bleeding afterwards. Hopefully I’ve got it right and it will start to work it’s magic.

Good luck for tomorrow morning @Cheermonger hope it works for you.

Good luck!

I did it! Watched the video and it was easy. Still a bit scared though!

How are you feeling @Cheermonger?

I had an ok day yesterday, didn’t really want to eat much but felt a little bit achey. Woke up with a horrible headache and nausea first thing this morning but it seems to be settling.

I’m trying to read through the August new starter thread but it is so long that I’m only half way through so far!
