Mounjaro (not Voy) without GP notification

is Voy the only provider who do not notify your GP?

I placed my first order with VOY however don’t wish to renew for 2 reasons:

it’s expensive at £229 unless I can persuade someone to be referred.
i only got 3 doses from the pen as it jammed and VOY are not interested/totally non responsive.

im not being reckless or underhand however I have an extremely poor relationship with my GP and they would be less than supportive and very judgmental

i was about to order with Medexpress however cannot do so without consenting to GP contact.

My BMI is still over 30 so I’m hoping I will be allowed to continue using Mounjaro somewhere other than Voy.

thanks.

I'd tell them purely for the fact if something happened to you and you need surgery etc they need to know you're on it due to the slowing of your stomach emptying

I'd say, if they contact you just say "I'm not concerned at the moment and have nothing I wish to discuss with you"

User364837 · 13/08/2024 12:54

I don’t think that Zava have told my GP. I needed to give GP details but then there was a letter they recommended I downloaded and sent to the GP myself.
PM if you’d like a code; it’s good on price and although a couple of people on the main thread have said about a warm pen arriving mine have been fine

Blackcats7 · 13/08/2024 12:57

Bolt don’t inform your gp.

autumnboys · 13/08/2024 14:35

Cloud Pharmacy gave me a choice.

CoastalCalm · 13/08/2024 14:50

Zava do tell GP as do Medexpress , even though they state optional letter to download - I found letter on my nhs file they had sent even though I didn’t give surgery details

WithASpider · 13/08/2024 14:56

Zava told my GP, i found a letter on my file. Medexpress didn't despite asking for permission.
I had an appointment recently and the GP didn't mention it at all.

Might be worth looking at Boots or Asda?

KeepinOn · 13/08/2024 15:02

I moved from Voy to Oxford Pharmacy and I think they only wanted to see my existing purchase with Voy before progressing. I can't remember if they required GP to be notified or not; I haven't heard a peep from mine despite giving permission for them to be notified, if that makes any difference.

Sidge · 13/08/2024 15:33

Your GP really won't care much.

It's useful to have on your records as 'other medication' as then we can check for interactions etc. For example it can reduce contraceptive efficacy with some types.

Mounjarorookie · 13/08/2024 20:18

Thank you those who have stated which providers do/don’t request disclosure agreement.

The non disclosure is not negotiable. I’m not going to discuss why in any more detail as it’s simply not relevant to the question I asked.

@Mounjarorookie
I don't have any input on suppliers, but just incase you didn't know, you can get the doses out the pen with an insulin syringe if you don't want to waste, x

HobnobsChoice · 13/08/2024 20:37

Numan didn't ask for GP details but I did get a follow up email asking if I wanted to provide

FutureMandosWife · 13/08/2024 23:12

GP receptionist here. We do get a letter from the company for information purposes only.

So your doctor's will know.

3wDavid · 14/08/2024 08:56

Just to say that I use MedExpress, and while I had to tick a box consenting to them informing my GP, they haven’t done it yet (I’ve been with them almost 3 months now; there’s nothing on my NHS app, and when I went to see my GP for another reason and mentioned it, he had no idea).

Summerhillsquare · 16/08/2024 12:20

You can get 30 quid off voy if you download and use their app if that helps.

I'd be surprised if your GP has the time and energy to check! I'd like it if they actually took an interest in my general health, rather than seeing me only in crisis.

Lexy70 · 16/08/2024 12:49

Hi there,

I used my juniper and didn't inform my GP. They offered and I declined. I totally understand why you have your own reasons as I too did.
They also continued to prescribe when my BMI was under 30. At 25 they offered me a long term maintenance dose. However I am slowly cutting down and trying to come off it.
I had great success and lost over three stone. Best of luck x

Numan asked me if I wanted them o notify my gp, to which I replied yes, and I can see MJ appeared on my online gp notes the next day

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 13/08/2024 20:20

They need to know. It's reckless to not tell them.

Of course they don't need to know. As you can see from the thread, lots of suppliers don't tell GPS. Op Mayfair weight loss don't contact your GP either, unless you want them too.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 17/08/2024 22:07

@Mebebecat your health providers need to know - if you're taken for surgery they need to know if you're on something that delays emptying of the stomach. It's reckless to not tell anyone. Anything could happen

WaitingForMojo · 17/08/2024 22:09

Are other providers cheaper than voy?

drspouse · 17/08/2024 22:27

If you are struggling with your relationship with your GP wouldn't it be better to change GP?

User364837 · 17/08/2024 22:43

WaitingForMojo · 17/08/2024 22:09

Are other providers cheaper than voy?

Yes
almost all of them, unless you have a code or someone uses your code
hence all the people here desperate for people to use their voy code and saying how great it is

They might still, possibly. I started with Phlo Clinic towards the end of May and the GP letter has only just appeared on my record.

Tiggermo · 17/10/2024 12:35

I was with medexpress and they contacted my GP now they have stopped it because off medication.

Adelstrop · 17/10/2024 14:30

Superdrug sent me a letter for you to print off/forward to the GP, so presumably they don't do so themselves. They are very expensive though (I changed supplier).
