GP prescribed the injections

Is this a new thing? I contacted the GPs about these injections a few weeks ago as BMI is around 40. I'm on some meds which cause weight gain.

Just logged on to my NHS app and the GP has just prescribed Mounjaro injections kwikipen 10mg / 0.6ml ? So they have prescribed them for me.

I hope so but many of us have found the meds have been added to our records when our GP practice have been informed by the online prescriber. They're not taking over prescribing-just noting that we're on it.

Ah, I see, I thought about getting them a couple of weeks ago but cancelled so maybe it's that :-( A bit strange though as it is a different dose.

To qualify for them on NHS you have to have type 2.
Have high BMI and tried other diabetic medication .
I paid for my first 2.5 and 5.
But my diabetic nurse is waiting for my blood results and if still high will get my GP to prescribe for me.

Ring the chemist.. ask if a prescription is there for you..
Medexpress asked if I'd like my GP to know.. l said yes.. but it's not my records.

Oh that's odd. You may have hit the jackpot then! You'd think the GP would discuss properly with you first but worth checking with them. Good luck

@Orangesandlemons77 if you have, brilliant!! I would double chance dosage though as 20mg is 4 x the usual starting dose and could (probably WILL!) make you feel HORRENDOUS!!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 12/08/2024 11:06

Double CHECK!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 12/08/2024 11:07

And 10mg obviously! MJ has made my nails grow and I can't type on my phone any more! 🤦‍♀️😂😩

Menora · 12/08/2024 12:00

It is because OP is diabetic.

Orangesandlemons77 · 12/08/2024 12:58

No, it's not the GP prescribing them after all, they had been added due to ordering online which I then cancelled, so they are taking it off the record now.

This is not true, I'm not type 2 and my GP had no issues
