Anyone with ME and/or Fibro using Mounjaro, tiredness is what I didn't want!

Hello, I was hoping for no side effects but if I had any, I would take anything but tiredness. I'm wiped out today, it feels like a flare of PEM. Is anyone else struggling who also has a chronic condition? Does it pass? 😴😴

I’ve got ME and am on week 7 of Mounjaro. I’m absolutely wiped out. Definitely more fatigued than usual. Sorry OP! How long have you been taking it?

I just started Monday, I have been good lately too, pacing well, eating good and today I only got out my jammies because the dogs were getting walked today. I've not washed my face or brushed my teeth, gross I know. I'm hoping I pick up or I can't be on it. Bloody body! This is my worst day, Tuesday and Wednesday I wasn't as bad. I don't even have the energy to have a conversation. Of all the symptoms to get, I literally can't keep my eyes open today. Have you lost well on it?

Ah crap. I've just ordered my first lot and I do have M.E. mainly under control (as much as can be) but been feeling the extra weight isn't helping. What doses have you got too?

I've just started on the 2.5, day 3. I'm hoping I jump up like a ninja tomorrow morning haha xx

I have chronic radiotherapy induced fatigue, same symptoms as CFS/ME and now on 7.5mg (week 11) of Mounjaro. The additional tiredness is definitely the most difficult Mounjaro symptom.

It's mostly worst for me on days 2-4 after each injection so I try to work around that. High protein meal replacement shakes help when cooking/meal prep/eating is too tiring but I want to keep my nutrient levels up. Short dog walks/ housework/ other movement (on good days) helps and as much water and squash as I can manage to drink helps too.

I'm also hoping that a lower weight will help with energy levels so I'm trying to push through the tiredness and other symptoms. Expecting it to take a year to get to a good BMI. It sucks but I've been ill for 6 years so what's 1 year more... I hope! I've lost 9 kg to date so it's definitely worth it so far.

Wow thank you, I'm working my jag this week round what symptoms I expect now, fatigue which peaked day 3. With having chronic fatigue it's management isn't it, I've been doing good then bam! But I know with less weight I will feel so much better joint wise and not be lugging an extra 3 stone about. I was officially diagnosed in 2016 but I was suffering for 10 years before that probably more.
I see ladies my age and they are rocking being 50, glowing and fit ffs and I'm lugging lard about and have a body that has extreme reactions to a gust of wind lol (neuralgia, allodynia and neuropathy)
Thank goodness for HRT haha
Your weight loss is so inspiring, thank you for replying xx

Yeah, it's about priorities isn't it, hopefully 1 year of being more tired might mean lots of years of being a bit less tired, iyswim. I've found it easier since I figured out the pattern of tiredness around the jabs. It also usually improves as my body gets used to each dose increase, so I'm hoping I don't need to go to the highest doses to keep losing weight.

I can't take HRT but it seems to be great if you can. I'm 56 so hopefully past most of menopause/peri now, thankfully. Fatigue is a nightmare but the radiotherapy was life-saving, so I keep telling myself that I shouldn't really complain.

That sounds really hard for you and a long time to have suffered with it too! Hopefully MJ and losing weight will help a bit with your pain and other symptoms.

Thanks, the weight loss still feels surreal but I'm really happy about it and hoping it continues at a similar pace.

Ive got CFS/me ive been on this 5 weeks and i just feel so burnt out to say the least week 6 found myself more snappy and snipperty with people die to exhaustion

PearlsPearl · 11/08/2025 23:30

I’ve got a chronic illness and was exhausted the first few weeks. It passed though and I feel completely fine now, in fact better than fine, I feel like I have more energy.

notnorman · 11/08/2025 23:45

It has made me ridiculously tired some weeks but it is totally worth it.

SkibidiSigma · 12/08/2025 08:28

Not got official diagnosis but been suffering chronic fatigue and various other symptoms for nearly 2 years following viral infection. Been on mounjaro since mid April and the fatigue has been awful. That and general feeling of flat mood which doesn't help either. I've considered stopping it's been that bad, but like others I need to lose the weight. Had over 5 stone to lose initially, lost 2 now and am sorry to say I'm not feeling any better yet. However I am still considerably overweight so am hoping it will come.

Edited to add, things that help slightly are electrolytes (I use vidrate but there are loads of options), staying as hydrated as possible generally, L-tyrosine supplements and avoiding constipation as that makes me feel worse

Orangesandlemons77 · 12/08/2025 21:58

I've been more tired and nauseous on it at higher doses and just went back to 5mg, feeling a bit better. Eating a bit more but don't mind if the weight loss is slower, I intend to be on it a long time anyway.
