Appetite struggles

I'm on my 2nd week and I don't know if it's just me but I am struggling. I have no appetite whatsoever and it's starting to concern me as my family have noticed I am eating hardly anything. I haven't told them about the injections as they would be against it. I have been exercising & healthy eating for the past 2 years and have lost 2 stone. I know it's taken me a long time but this is a life change and not a diet. So today I have had 1 slice of toast for breakfast, 15g lentil chips as I couldn't eat anymore plus a yoghurt drink and for dinner I am forcing a slice of toast down me. I've just been swimming so you think I would be hungry..I need help in how to eat more ..plus the thought of food makes me feel queasy!

Hi @Jellybelly66 sorry you are struggling with eating. Could you try to move from the carby toast to something more protein-based? So, maybe scrambled egg for breakfast, and then something like tuna/salmon/cheese/cottage cheese/peanut butter for lunch and dinner? Try and add some veg in there if you can. Edamame beans are high in protein.

Hey! As already said you need to eat some nutritious food, toast and lentil crisps won't be doing you any good. Try home made soup, scrambled egg or if it must be toast - add peanut butter or cheese.

You need to try and eat more - little and often is fine if you can't manage meals.

You may find your appetite returns a few days before injection day in which case, I would focus on eating a lot more those days.

Good luck!

I had my first dose Saturday and I’m the same it is horrible isn’t it.
it isn’t just not being hungry it is actually finding it impossible to eat enough. Even chewing the food feels disgusting and it’s taking me a long time to even eat a pack of fridge raiders!
ive struggled to reach 600 calories the past 4 days.
i thought this would suppress my appetite not make it almost impossible to eat. Have felt very nauseous too.
even this starter dose is too strong for me. @Jellybelly66 will you carry on? I don’t think I can risk it I feel like I need half this dose.

Given you can't eat very much, you should be extra mindful of what are you eating, and make the most out of it.

Ditch the empty carbs, and focus on that protein - helps with energy, helps with muscle mass, helps with a lot of things. If you can't eat an actual meal for breakfast, do a protein shake. Gives you much more than just a piece of toast.

You need at a minimum:

  1. Protein - at least 1 g per 1 kg of body weight PER DAY
  2. Fiber - fruits/veg - make it a side to each meal you're having
  3. Water - minimum 2.5-3 l.

There's a whole What I eat on MJ thread if you need some inspo.

But you absolutely need to eat.
