Bonus dose

I'm reading around everything having ordered my injections today and see that you can get a bonus dose out of the pens.

Do you actually do this, and if so do you get it out of the pen or do you order insulin needles (where from?) for it please?

I did on my first pen and shall on my second. Not everybody uses it but I think this stuff is too expensive to throw away!

You have two options - use a normal screw on pen needle and get a 0.6ml dose out. You will have to 'force' the pen to twist out to 1 as it sticks after your 4th dose.
The other option is to use a 1ml insulin syringe and draw all of the left over liquid out of the red bung at the end of the pen. I bought some needles online from ukmedi and I think there's a link to some at the top of the 'continuing Mounjaro' threads.

Do you take it as a 5th dose and delay starting your next pen?

Or do you use it to increase your 4th dose?

I planned on having a 'bridging dose' of 3.75mg to help the move to 5mg and drew 0.7ml from my first pen. I then used a little from my new pen to top it up (unfortunately, I miscalculated and ended up taking nearly 5 anyway but we live and learn! 🤦‍♀️😂)

Sorry, kind of didn't read your message properly. I would not advise boosting your 4th dose! Take the 2.5 for 4 weeks and do not increase before then.

Why wouldn't you use it? You do need to force the pen to turn but it will turn and you can buy needles on Amazon if you want to use extras to make a pen last 5 weeks. No reason why you shouldn't do a double dose on week 4 if you aren't having an issue with side effects.

@AnnotherReader Sorry, I’m afraid I can't. I ordered mine from somewhere else and ordered wipes as well but cannot remember the packaging. Pretty sure it was just a plastic bag with UKMedi printed on it and an address label🤔

Plain packaging - I ordered two packs of syringes and some wipes and I think they just came in something like a white jiffy bag.

are people that are doing this still using the pen after 30 days then? I thought that was a no no!

Hey guys - ive just started my injection beginning of this week. I’m currently on 2.5mg mounjaro with great effect the first half of the week but today i have started to get my appetite back as i feel the drug has worn off. Does anyone know if i can take my next dose a day or two early?

Injection 4 is on day 22, so a bonus dose 5 would be on day 29.
1st = Day 1
2nd = Day 8
3rd = Day 15
4th = Day 22
5th = Day 29

Stick to the minimum 4 weeks as prescribed for each new strength to allow the medication to slowly build up in your body and help with side effects.

So the 5th dose in your first pen should be used in your 5th week (as long as it is also within 30 days of being out the fridge or first use whichever is sooner)

If you find you have good appetite suppression on 2.5mg you might choose to stay there for another month. MJ strength doesn't make you lose weight, the calorie deficit from the appetite suppression does, no need to increase dose and risk side effects if the appetite suppression is working.

Why would you?
I wouldn’t mess about with this stuff, follow the guidance as the 2.5 is to get your body used to the drug.
i found I had more side effects after the second jab. So I personally would wait the full 7 days.

If it is the first pen and/or the first pen of a higher strength it would inadvisable/risking unpleasant side effects to prematurely increase the strength as the concentration of the medication is still increasing in your body with each dose in the first 4 weeks of any new strength.

Especially going 2.5mg to 5mg, is the biggest increase as it doubling the dose where other increases are then only going up by 2.5mg.

I never got my first side effect until week 4 of 2.5mg.

Hi all. I'm at the end of my 1st pen and now have the option of using the bonus dose, I have ordered and received some syringes recommended on this thread. My question is what's the measure of the usual dose? I haven't? I read up thread some of you manage to retrieve .6 ml is this enough for 1 week?

I have read up thread that should say

0.6ml is a usual dose from each pen.
Most people can extract more than that for the 5th dose.
