When to stop Wegovy/ozempic

I've been on ozempic since March 2023, switched to Wegovy a few months back and am currently on the maximum dosage of 2.4mg.

I'm overjoyed at my results, I've steadily lost weight and have now lost 4s 5lb, leaving me around 7lb from my ultimate goal and finally being a healthy weight.

Assuming that I continue on my current trajectory and allowing for a holiday I should reach this by early September at the latest. So what happens then? Do I just stop taking it completely? Will I suffer any side effects? And more importantly after 18 months will my appetite go straight back to what it used to be?

I'm actually feeling very apprehensive about stopping but i obviously can't continue to take it if I don't need it.

Any advice?

I’m a loooong way from achieving my goal weight but from what I have read, I would suggest talking to your provider to discuss maintenance.

I am taking Mounjaro which I order from Voy and they say there are two options - stop or wean yourself off - and will support either in discussion with the individual.

Sorry I can't be of more help🙂

i'm 7lbs away from my target and am now thinking about how to stop... i read somewhere that tapering off is better than just stopping cold turkey..

make sure you have good habits in place as wegovy supressed the appetite and as soon as you stop taking it all that is gone.

my plan over the next 2 months is to get a healthy eating regime in place, get into the habit of tracking calories and also daily exercise. once thats in place i intend to taper down my dose and ultimately be off it by christmas!

it is worrying that lots of information states you gain all the weight back and then some when you but surely if its all calories in v calories out you must be able to bypass this
