I only started yesterday on 2.5mg, but I'm already making myself paranoid about side effects! I thought I woke up feeling a bit iffy, but now I'm fine so thinking it was all in my head.

How soon after the first dose did anyone experience side effects?

I'm praying this works as I'm now at a complete loss as I've tried everything... I've just spent weeks and weeks in the gym and I'm a calorie deficit only to realise I've gained weight 😳

@ACEwards firstly welcome to the club! I remember having that feeling of is everything a symptom at the beginning and overthinking, however I'll be honest and i barely had a single symptom. A couple of times I've been a little constipated but that was more my first week on 5mg. The 2.5 only gave me suppression and no other symptoms, however everyone is different. I tried to keep myself really busy the first week so I didn't keep thinking about the meds to be honest.

Honestly it's been a game changer for me. I've lost a stone and a half in 7 weeks and never been happier. Much more to go but I believe I can do it this time. I've been using these 7 weeks to change what I eat and how much I eat so hopefully I can continue with this new way of eating into the future.

There are plenty of threads if you search and so many posters sharing their journeys. I'm really sorry I don't know how to link them on my phone but they're definitely worth a read.

Goodluck!

Thank you so much @Newme24. It's great to hear you're doing so well. I'm praying this works for me, as my metabolism is completely shot from years of yo-yoing, plus coming off hormonal iud has just added to the issue as I'm back to having periods and my weight is just going up and up despite trying to eat in a calorie deficit.

I'm hoping this can eventually snap me out of my snacking too 😳

@ACEwards I can honestly say I barely snack these days. Totally unheard of before MJ. I cook a whole roast chicken every week and snack on that it really does keep me full. I can't remember the last time I finished a dinner either which I'm so happy about because I was very much can't leave anything on my plate. I'm definitely listening more to my body. Hoping you have similar on your journey. I don't eat crisps or chocolate anymore. I can leave both in the cupboard and not fancy them in the slightest. It's incredible.

I had no side effects until the third week, and then it was mild nausea.

I just take dimenhydrinate tablets.

TheShellBeach · 19/07/2024 11:46

If you go to eBay and search for Equate motion sickness tablets, they're about £14 for a hundred.
They're really effective.

I took my first dose last Saturday night and had side effects on the Sunday. I was exhausted Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. I had a super high heart rate Sunday afternoon for about three or four hours (up to 152 just walking from one room to the other in my house). I was immediately off food. Struggled to eat for the first three days. Yesterday and today were the first days I've felt peckish.

@TheShellBeach great tip thanks! I'm ok at the moment, but will keep that in mind!

Just a very dry mouth. Hopefully that's normal

I had quite bad symptoms for the first few days , but figured it was worth it ,since I've been trying to diet for years and years .I took travel tablets , they helped and I feel fine now.
A wee problem with constipation, but I'll try and fix that.
The biggest thing for me is not wanting to eat sweets, cakes, biscuits or stodgy processed rubbish food.
I can't believe a small jab of liquid can change your whole mindset . I've lost 10lbs in 2 weeks .I started at almost 15 st.
I hope I can keep it up and hopefully get to a weight I am happy with and try and end the ' always on a diet ' life I was leading . Good luck x

Yes, most people get that. It does encourage you to drink lots of water, which is a good thing.

30not13 · 19/07/2024 18:10

Tiredness from 3pm for the first day or two, and extreme thirst for a day or two.
Nothing week two
Week 3 a little constipation but nothing I needed to do anything about other than drink more water.
Week 4 no side effects but was a tricky Week suppression wise, working at the start and end but nothing in the middle.
Just had Week 5 jab.

Good luck

I took it this morning for the first time! Had a headache but had a full on 28 degree day with the kids.
I'm thinking about dinner and don't seem to have the suppression but I read on one of the other support threads that it can take a few days.
Good luck everyone!

Don't forget that the 2.5mg dose is just to get your body used to the tirzepatide.

The 5mg dose is when you start to get better suppression.

Having said that, I'm still on 2.5mg and have lost 17lb. Going up to 5mg next week.

I took mine for the first time today too! Had a bit of a headache but it’s boiling and I’ve not drank a lot so I’m inclined to think it’s more likely that than the jab!

I am tired though, I fell asleep for an hour before.

ACEwards · 20/07/2024 05:52

I think I've realised alcohol is not mixing well. I'm not a drinker at all, but been out last two evenings and had just two small glasses of wine and I've felt nauseous during the night/early hrs.

Like I said, not a drinker at all so no alcohol tonight and will see if this helps.... again, could just be anxiety

I don't know if it's my mind playing tricks, but didn't get any hunger pangs yesterday at all. Still managed to consume 1200 cals without even being hungry, but mostly that was just down to eating what was available just to keep my body functioning lol!
