Mounjaro and breast cancer history

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knows od I would still be able to have Mounjaro injections with a history of breast cancer? I’ve looked online and can’t find much. I’d like to discuss it with my GP but haven’t been able to get an appointment…

I had breast cancer (diagnosed October 2021) and finished my treatment in December 2022. I gained about 2.5/3 stone throughout treatment and haven’t been very successful in shifting it…I’m now tipping the scales at around 15 stone 😞 I have a friend who has lost 3 stone using Mounjaro and I’m wondering if this is a route I could take? Any advice/signposts to more information would be very much appreciated

Perhaps start an online consultation or get it prescribed by a private GP?

I have the same question- it would seem ideal to be able to take it as we know weight is a risk factor for breast cancer. I am going to start with the specialist breast cancer nurses as I suspect the GP will refer there anyway

Thanks for replying both of you… I’ll keep trying to get a GP appointment, and maybe phone the BCN too, they may have extra information…?

Hi,
I had BC in 2015 and after taking Tamoxifen for 5 years I am now taking Letrozole as a preventative medicine. I have put on a 24lbs am want to try Mounjaro injections but worry about the side effects and as I am borderline BMI I know the gp won't recommend. Any advice please?
Thanks

My (hormone positive) breast cancer was over 10 years ago so possibly not relevant. I had a chat with the nutritionist at my GP surgery and he had no problem with me taking Mounjaro after looking through my notes. He mentioned that the hormonal upheavals from zoladex in particular could well resulted in weight gain…
