Looking for help/advice with choosing weight loss injections. I’m 5ft 6, 41 years old and weigh just over 15stone. I’ve used Saxenda twice and lost a stone in a month each time (then fell pregnant each time and couldn’t keep up the weight loss).
I’m looking at Wegovy or Mounjaro and would like to hear any recommendations and also good places to buy it from. I used Boots previously for Saxenda.
Thanks :)

Is there a reason for not using Saxenda if it worked for you before?

I heard it was being discontinued in the UK but happy to be proved wrong!

Just been reading up about it, according to the Asda Online Doctor website Saxenda is currently long term out of stock for any prescribing service. But they say that a generic version is going to be available sometime later this year (unspecified as to when).

So, I guess that Mounjaro or Wegovy are the two options to consider instead of the Saxenda. I've just started on Mounjaro, with Asda Online Doctor, and it's been absolutely fine for me so far. But that's not going to be indicative of anything for anyone else of course.

Hey @aprilshowers2015 I don't know anything about Saxenda, so I can't help you there. I decided to go for Wegovy rather than Mounjaro because - as far as I could tell - Mounjaro is the slightly more heavy duty option, it's the one that is prescribed for people with diabetes, and - again this is just a reflection of what I managed to read and understand - it seems there might be more side effects. Although I have also seen people call the risk of side effects the other way round, so in the end it's what suits your body.
So I chose Wegovy as it felt the safer, milder option. Then I chose Voy because the name kept coming up, and lots of discount codes, so I tried registering with them and it was all fairly easy and straightforward PLUS their support seems very good and they send regular educational emails on making healthy choices. I think also you can have communication with a personal coach but you'd need to look into that bit because I don't use it, I'm not feeling the need.

So my experience - great service, arrived promptly, well packed and good instructions, there are vids online to show you how to inject etc. I was nervous about starting but it's been fine. In fact I can't believe how easy it's been. I'm on the lowest dose and it's had a massive effect on what I eat, I'm eating MUCH less and I've lost nearly 5kg now. I've had almost no side-effects. I was a bit more tired than usual at first but now I've got more energy than before. Very slight tendency to constipation but easily overcome with extra water and magnesium tablets. I'm really, really pleased I'm doing this.

Here's a code if you're interested. Discount for you and it gets me a further discount too.
Ask me anything you like I'll try and answer. Best of luck!

I am just starting my 4th week on Mounjaro and am delighted with the weight loss (15 lbs down!).
Pros: A level of hunger that I can cope with not the nauseating feeling I usually have in the mornings! Feeling full after a simple meal eg salmon and veg. Not thinking about food CONSTANTLY! No real interest in snacking or chocolate or junk at all.
Cons: I had a variety of side affects from being bloated/uncomfortably bunged up to bouts of diarrhoea, a metallic taste and raging thirst and tiredness.

I am with Voy and the service has been excellent so far.

Thank you so much for this. I'd heard Voy mentioned and was thinking they would be my preferred provider. I've ordered using your code :)

Fab @aprilshowers2015 best of luck with it. I hope you have great success and no sideffects!

freemyboobs · 11/07/2024 20:12

I've just started using voy too, would really recommend. The code before will give anyone else reading (I see you've ordered already!) a big (50%) discount so it's only £139 to get started
