Mounjaro - Needle 💉size with pen and for “bonus” dose

I am just starting Mounjaro and I have read about the bonus doses on here and understand what to do. I am going to try the hard twist method first but have an insulin needle on standby in case needed to extract it.

Someone linked to a 8mm needle to use to extract. Does it need to be that long to extract? My pen came with shorter 6mm needles has anyone extracted their bonus dose with a shorter 6mm insulin syringe needle?

Sorry if discussed before, but couldn’t find it. 2mm longer seems a lot when jabbing yourself 😫😂

i bought a box of needles from amazon... about a hundred i think for about 8 or 9£

Thanks @beckybarefoot I was looking at the insulin syringes for extracting liquid from the pen and wondering if anyone had used 6mm ones and if they were long enough to extract instead of 8 mm others had linked.

Look at the 'internal' part of the pen needles - that's how long it needs to be to get through the pen seal. Bear in mind that you don't need to push the needle/syringe combo all the way into you if you don't want to - although I did bonus dose this week and just did it at an angle as advised elsewhere on this board and as soon as the needle tip was actually going in/broke the surface, there was no pain at all.

What's the hard twist method please?

What's the hard twist method please?

This video shows you how. I didn't have the strength when I did mine so had to use pliers to help!

When I did mine it didn't push back down to 0, it was 6 clicks short, but the difference is negligible

Remember always to use a new needle.
